Devyani International Limited (DIL), which signed an agreement with Disney in 2007 to own and operate 'Disney Artist' stores in India, has announced the successful implementation of LS Retail at all Disney Artist Stores in the country. DIL’s prime requirement was to sustain quality and maintain the same international standards for Disney that Disney is renowned world over for. It wished to implement and roll out an internationally recognised Point-Of-Sale (POS) Solution to capture the Sales Process. LS Retail is a full blown; end-to-end integrated retail solution built on top of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. This helps the customer to have online integration of data between the stores and the head office. Dynamic Vertical Solutions (DVS) is the exclusive distributor of LS Retail Suite of Solutions in India. LS Retail along with Dynamics was implemented by Trident Information Systems.
DIL currently operates 1200 Stock Keeping Units or SKUs under the 'Disney Artist' brand, which is increasing with the company's rapid expansion across India. The immediate need of the hour was to use an internationally proven end-to-end solution that met their requirement of quick and successful implementation. Moreover, the solution used should prove itself to be flexible and reliable as and when the organisation scales its operations. LS Retail is an integrated end-to-end solution built on top of Microsoft Dynamics NAV specifically for the retail industry. For DIL, LS Retail was favoured as it would help the organisation manage their new business professionally and seamlessly while helping it to adopt best retail practices that would help the company gain a leadership position in the industry.
There were many benefits that accrued to DIL following the implementation of LS Retail. The solution helped DIL in tracking sales-related operations across all stores and other MIS crucial for Business Intelligence. LS Retail also proved to be a vital tool for DIL at the head office, as it helped them control and maintain data common to all stores. This includes, for example, item, customer and vendor management as well as the management of special offers and loyalty programmes. The flexibility of LS Retail's single application architecture helped DIL to configure the application according to their demands.
Commenting on the positive changes in the operation process of Disney Artist Stores, Sukesh Gera, head – IT and Systems, DIL, said, "LS Retail solution has allowed DIL stores to quickly implement efficient retail practices and functionalities. The system can easily expand to new stores and product lines. Users are pleased with easy interface of the system". He further emphasised, "We wanted to see the beauty of the software completely and therefore, DVS worked with us to help us realise the best practices of retail as per available software. Instead of modifying software, we improved our practices to suit the requirements of software, which automatically improved our work processes. It has sure been an interesting phase" .
Arjun Verma, executive director and CFO, DIL, stated, "We at DIL believe that technology is not a sunk cost but rather an investment to reduce huge long-term costs. With LS Retail, we now have an internationally proven IT platform that supports further development of our business. LS Retail hence, was an investment to maintain competitive advantage for DIL’s long-term growth in India".
