Facebook in Indian Languages

09 May, 2009, 7:32 am IST | tech2 News Staff | Windows

With desi being the buzzword nowadays, Facebook, the second most popular networking site in India, will let members navigate in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, Malayalam and Telugu.

But that's about it. Users can only browse through the site in these languages, not message or update their status. The site is not yet enabled for transliteration. Users can change language settings through the 'settings' tab or through the language option on their Facebook homepage.

Orkut still leads the social networking race India, and with this Facebook hopes to connect to the Indian audience on a more local level.
