Gaming Annoyances 101: The Industry Factor

In this instalment let's take a look at some of the flaws in the gaming industry today.

Ignorance This characteristic seems more rampant among parents, politicians and uninformed media who are hell-bent on blaming video games for everything out there. Someone gets murdered? Blame it on games. Someone gets raped? Blame it on games. Someone goes postal and shoots half his school? Blame it on – you guessed it – games! What most of these people don’t realize is that half the nuts out there who claim video games corrupt fragile little minds aren’t supposed to be playing those games in the first place since they categorically carry an M/18 rating. A big deal’s been made about Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series and the so-called scandalous content it brings to the table, but there’s nothing in there an 18-year old hasn’t seen. I'd urge parents to maintain a tighter leash over their underaged children and instill some good values in them since developers have enough to worry about without some lawsuit looming over their heads. I would also urge Fox not to entertain clueless bimbos who are of the opinion that Mass Effect allows players to indulge in 'Full Digital Nudity and Sex'. Its people like this who give humanity a bad name. So my question to all the developers out there is: why show us the damn game in the first place if we aren’t allowed to talk about it and discuss it with our audience? |
