January is a slow month for gaming so naturally the weekends are even slower. However the past few days were surprisingly alive with rumors, interesting tit-bits of information and a reveal that’s stepped straight outta 1997. Battlefield 3 hates Windows XP Do you still run XP on your machine? Are you perhaps living in a time warp untouched by Microsoft’s latest OS? If so, you may just have to upgrade your operating system to play the latest Battlefield game, titled Battlefield 3. Why? Because that’s DICE’s way of showing us PC gamers some "exclusive" love apparently. Ok then. XP can't handle the truth Not to be confused with the Bad Company series, Battlefield is what gave Swedish developer DICE the recognition they now enjoy. EA’s still pretty tight lipped on details but if you’ve purchased the limited edition of Medal of Honor, you could get invited to the beta that should kick off sometime this year. It’s a bird, it’s a plane - no wait, it’s a 15 year old franchise Resurrected from the grave Did you know there was a Jurassic Park game in development? Us neither but apparently Game Informer – like always – have an exclusive scoop on the game being developed by Telltale games. The game will take place after the events of the first movie and put players in the boots of an unnamed Park employee. It’s being pegged as an action game in the vein of Heavy Rain, which means there will be heavy emphasis on Quick Time Events (yes groan all you want). Jurassic Park will be released in five episodes spread over 2011 and besides the PC and Mac, no consoles have been confirmed (or denied). All I know is I better be able to stab dinosaurs in the head. Fight Night will kick your butt to a bloody pulp Someone at EA Sports decided it was high time to reinvent the Fight Night series so they added in some blood, grime and slapped on an M (Mature) rating - violence sells, right? And what’s so Mature about this game? I’ll let the trailer do the talking now. Uncharted 3 will not support Move Drake's too cool for Move Uncharted 3 developer, Naughty Dog are thankfully not jumping on the motion controller bandwagon like everyone else and so Uncharted 3 will not support PlayStation Move. Why? Because Naughty Dog's Co-President, Christophe Balestra feels a great Move game should be made around Move and work on Uncharted 3 began long before the Move released. Major props going out to Naughty Dog for not trying to capitalize on the so called popular trend that is motion gaming. Dragon Age 2 DLC announced Never make fun of my height Even though Dragon Age 2’s release date is a few months away, EA are busy working on DLC for the game, the first batch of which will be available at launch itself. If you’ve ordered the Signature Edition this DLC will be free for you. If not, you can pick it up for $7 on launch day. The Exiled Prince as it’s called will allow players to tinkle with a new character, Sebastian Vael who presumably is the Exiled Prince. He’s on a quest to avenge someone or something but I guess we’ll have to wait till the 22nd of March 2011 to find out what that exactly is. |
