This is it, our final list.

After enlightening you with over 3 parts of the upcoming Action games of 2009, it’s time to wind things down before we head on over to our first person shooter list. Overlord was an action adventure set in the medieval ages in some sort of a fantasy world that allowed players to control an army of minions as they went around tearing the countryside up destroying stuff, killing innocents, etc. I personally got bored after an hour or so but it went down really well with critics and gamers alike spawning a sequel that will take now take the action to the Roman era. You’ll have a brand new Overlord (the big dude who controls the minions) and minions with enhanced capabilities like the ability to ride mounts, use war machines and sail warships. Unlike Red Faction 1 and 2 that were both first person shooters, Red Faction: Guerilla is going in for the third person approach and - get this – it’ll be a free roaming game a la GTA allowing players to explore Mars to their heart’s content. The game’s USP off course will be wanton destruction that’ll allow the protagonist, Alec Mason a rebel with a very serious cause to tear apart the opposition “brick by brick”. Loosely based on the life of British spy Violette Szabo, Velvet Assassin will put players in the boots of Velvette Summer, a spy (surprised much?) who’s tasked with dismantling the Nazi oppression during World War II. This isn’t a very big budget title so little is known about it except for the fact that’s it’s a stealth game and will allow players to carry out gruesome executions. |
