A quick look at some of our most anticipated Downloadable Content (DLC) of 2009.

Whether you like it or not, Downloadable Content (DLC) is here to say. Some of you may think of it as a way evil publishers can rob you off your hard earned money for content they could have bundled in the game while the optimistic gamers out there could label it as a cheap way for increasing the life span of their favorite game. Either way, here’s a look at some of 2009’s DLC that has us interested. GTA IV’s first batch of downloadable content exclusive to the Xbox 360 (for now at least) will put players in the boots of biker, Johnny Klebitz of the Lost Biker gang and will allow them to explore a "different side of Liberty City". Details are pretty bleak as of now but Dan Houser, Vice President of Rockstar Games guarantees players will derive multiple hours of entertainment from this DLC, the details of which we know nothing about. Bethesda has a good chunk of DLC planned for Fallout 3 – once again exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC (sorry PS3 owners). The first batch of the DLC titled Operation Anchorage will immerse players into a military simulation of sorts allowing them to explore the frozen wastelands of Alaska complete with newer weapons, enemies and armor. The second batch called The Pitt (releasing in February 2009) will take place in an industrial raider town in Pittsburgh while the final pack called Broken Steel will increase the level cap to 30 (as opposed to 20 in the game). At the same time it’ll allow players to join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel to eliminate the Enclave menace plaguing the wastelands once and for all. To increase last year’s most excellent racer, Midnight Club L.A.’s life span developer Rockstar have been working hard on both free and paid DLC that should hit Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network sometime this month. The South Central Upgrade Map (free of cost) will add a whole new area to the game that’s nearly 1/3rd the size of LA along with many authentic LA landmarks most of which haven’t even heard of. If that doesn’t satiate your appetite you could actually buy the South Central Content Pack that’ll bestow you with new character competitions, races, music, bikes and cars (SUVs baby). |
