Over the past few months we haven’t come across a horror game that’s scared us senseless. The latest Silent Hill game didn’t scare Nik as much as he thought it would and Condemned 2 ended up getting pretty predictable real soon. So now we’re on the lookout for a spook fest and even though we don’t have anything horrific in our sights, we’ve come up with five candidates that could satiate our craving for the time being. Saw (PC PS3 Xbox360) What’s it about: Based on the gore flicks of the same name, Saw the video game will allow players to experience the tension and horror associated with the franchise as they attempt to survive Jigsaw’s demented world and his sadistic death traps. Why it could rock: While not a horror game in a conventional sort of way, the game could keep you on the edge of the seat as you explore the abandoned asylum (which is where the game takes place) while avoiding all the death traps scattered around you. Save innocent people from a horrific death or save your own ass. Such are the moral choices that await you in this game. And since this is based on the Saw movies, expect tons of gratuitous gore and violence. Doom 4 (TBA) What’s it about: We don’t know for sure yet but since Doom 3 was a remake of Doom 1, we’re guessing Doom 4 will be a remake of Doom 2: Hell on Earth. But then again, id’s CEO said Doom 4 won’t be a sequel to Doom 3 so I guess we’re back to square one again. Not a Doom 4 screen shot Why it could rock: It’s a fking DOOM game people. I know, I know Doom 3 got a bit repetitive along the way but you can’t deny the fact that it was atmospheric as hell (pun intended) back in the day. |
