You got the ring on the finger. Now what?

5 Apps for Your Fairy Tale Wedding

The Royal Wedding happened and guys everywhere were, on some level saying, "Damn you, you damn Prince with your face and fairy tale wedding!". If you got the ring on the finger and are wondering, "Well, now what?" let your smartphone do all the work. For starters yes, you'll need the traditional wedding planning apps, but beyond that, you really need apps to take care of you. So here's what I'd suggest.

iWedding Deluxe for iOS and Wedding Planning for Android

Yea yea, this is the standard organization one. I know guys don't really organize weddings but the least get the app and show that you care enough to help out. These apps help you with the standard budgeting, seating arrangements (if you need them), dealing with the florists and caterers etc, and basic wedding task management. iWedding Deluxe is available for $9.99 (Rs. 448) from the App Store and Wedding Planning is free from the Android Market.

Runaway Groom

Dry run. Literally

I'm not advocating that you pull a Julia Roberts at your own wedding. In fact, that's why I'm recommending this app. It's a gamewhere you basically do as the title suggests; avoid brides. The set up is that you're one those plastic grooms from a wedding cake and there are plastic brides falling at you. You need to avoid them by moving around the icing. There's no increasing challenge or levels except that as more time goes, more loco brides fall at you. Your prize is the satisfaction of how long you can hold them off. Runaway Groom is available from the App Store for free. There isn't a similar game for Android yet. So try a little harder not to run away, Android users?

Google Maps

However, if you do runaway, make sure you have a runaway plan. If you're in a place that you're unfamiliar with especially, like her family's home town. Google Maps, especially on Android will give you street by street voice navigation, you can activate street view in case road signs are a little off, as well as you can look for hotels nearby that you can take refuge in. Just make sure not to check into them. Foursquare might be a good thing to completely delete from your phone too. Google Maps comes for free on iOS and Android platforms.

Ultimate Baby

For in case you're wondering

If kids are going to be in the picture, you might want this app to see if you really want the kids you might have and then take a call on your wedding day. I mean, chances are you'll be in love and this won't matter, but this app takes a picture of you and your to be spouse and conjures up baby pictures with it, based on what you look like. Yes, it does sound like a cheap internet game but if that's what's worrying you on your wedding day, chances are you could churn out a pretty hot baby and that might help you look forward to getting married more? That might be good. Ultimate baby is available for $0.99 (Rs. 44) in the App Store.

Wedding Speeches for Best Man

This one is more a precautionary app more than anything. You may not actually have a best man but yes, your best friend might do a toast at your wedding. You might want to make sure it's tasteful and not giving away the nights of drunken debauchery you've had together. Wedding Speeches for Best Man will take care of you. The description says that the speeches will leave the audience laughing, crying and 'remembering what they love so much about the groom'. Better that than, "get away from my daughter, now" right? The app is available for $0.99 (Rs. 44) from the App Store and Rs. 61.72 from the Android Market.

As a post script, I'd just like to say how disturbing the number of apps available for the Royal Wedding is. None of them offer streaming of the wedding or even clips and pictures, just moments leading up to the wedding. And some of them even cost! None of them will help you plan your 'Royal Wedding', so I'd say just stick to these five and let your fiance do the rest eh?
