Build your gaming rig for roughly 35k

A few weeks back, we talked about how one could put together a gaming PC running for a little more than Rs. 50,000. We decided to put together a list of hardware for a gaming PC for just Rs. 35,000. Not everyone has a budget of Rs. 50,000 for a PC and not everyone is going to spending several hours a day gaming. Some of us are more interested in the gameplay and a slightly smaller screen doesn’t hamper the experience by a lot either. So we’re going to recommend pieces of hardware that should be able to build a reasonably high-end gaming rig for a more nominal Rs. 35,000. This is what you'll need.

The hardware

Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE

Old, but plenty of power to make the wheels spin

The AMD Phenom X4 965 BE might be a slightly old processor from two years ago, but it packs a punch for its price. At under Rs. 6,700, it’s one of the cheaper yet powerful quad core processors. AMD Phenom BE processors are better suited for overclocking than some of the other processors. This means that you have the option to crank up the core speeds if you need the extra performance.

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3

USB 3, SATA3 and a ton of other features at under Rs. 5,000

Like any other system, the motherboard doesn’t really boost the performance of your system by a lot, but it does bring in a whole bunch of features. This Gigabyte GA-880M-USB3 for example, costs under Rs. 5,000, is a microATX board but it supports SATA3 and USB 3.0. Four RAM slots means there’s space for plenty of memory. The AM3 socket means you have a bunch of faster processors to choose from if you want to, sometime in the near future. Bundle 4GB of Corsair’s Value DDR3 memory, which costs merely Rs. 1,300 these days and you should be alright.
