Build your gaming rig for roughly 50k

Rage, Battlefield 3, Serious Sam: BFE are just some of the great PC games to be released this month. Some of them are already here and like us, we’re sure there are many of you out there who want to play them. If you’re running a slightly outdated system based on, say a dual-core processor with a pre-historic graphics card, the experience is going to be less than exciting. PCs tend to offer great graphics quality, but the demand on mighty graphics cards and processors has reduced slightly. So, you no longer have to shell out in excess of a lakh to build a system to have a great visually rich, gaming experience.

To prove just that, we’ve compiled a list of hardware that can be put together to build a rather powerful gaming rig, for just around Rs. 50,000. Now, the hardware being used to build are it all easily available in most stores. Some online stores also ship these products for a marginally higher price. If you’ve been wondering whether to buy a notebook for some gaming and if you’re going to be using it at home, you’re better off with a gaming rig.

What do I need?

Processor - Intel Core i5 2400

The processor is at the heart of a modern gaming rig and it’s as important a component, as say the graphics card. The Intel Core i5 2400 belongs to the new Sandy Bridge line of processors and are based on the LGA1155 socket.

The Core i5 2400 provides a punch for its price. It’s priced at just under Rs. 10,000 and its four-cores mean that it should offer good future proofing as well.

Graphics card - MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC

The next major component that directly affects the performance of games. The MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC is more than just a complicated name. It’s MSI’s overclocked version of the GeForce 560 Ti GPU, which comes with two fans and a massive heatsink.

Performance wise, it’s faster than all of the stock GeForce GTX 560 Ti cards you can buy. Games that depend a lot more on the GPU than the CPU will see the most benefits.
