Far Cry 3 Wish List

Here is some of the stuff we would like to see added and axed from Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 3 Wish List

For me personally, Far Cry 3 was the best thing to happen at E3 2011. But as excited as that gameplay video got me, Far Cry 2 is still a gruesome reminder of how a promising game can go down the crapper real fast. Keeping that in mind, here’s a wish list of some stuff I’d like to see added and axed from Far Cry 3.

Multiplayer that doesn’t die out after the first week

Like this but on an island

Far Cry 2’s multiplayer was dead on arrival. It wasn’t bad per say, but it was so generic, it couldn’t hold anyone’s interest for more than a week. Now with Far Cry 3 they could go in for the Battlefield/Call of Duty way with perks and upgrades and so on (generic but enjoyable) or take a page from one of their own franchises, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. This would probably involve traversing the world map, taking on AI present in the map as well as other players present in it giving it a quasi MMO vibe.

Co-operative Play

Co-op makes everything better

Co-op makes everything better

The buddy system in Far Cry 2 was utter crap. For its sequel we really hope that it gets axed or substituted by actual co-operative play. Imagine roaming around the island with a buddy controlling a mounted machine gun atop a vehicle while he mows fools down, setting ambushes for enemies, mixing up strategies, or just blowing stuff up. Every game’s better in co-op right?

No weapon jamming please

I really liked the way weapons looked in Far Cry 2. They were dirty, didn’t work too well and were a stark reminder of the harsh Sudan setting. But after a few firefights, intensity paved the way for frustration as players were left with a jammed weapon in front of ten heavily armed men. And I assure you that did not end well.

Quick Travel

It’s an absolute must that open world games should feature quick travel. Yeah, I get it that a studio has put in a lot of effort in creating a living, breathing world for the player to experience but let me experience it at my own pace. Do not make me drive from point A to B multiple times just so I can marvel at the gorgeous environments. It’s annoying, rude and not to mention boring. I still wake up in a cold sweat thinking of the amount of driving that was forced upon me in Far Cry 2. Brrr!

Better Mission Structure

Making an open world game is fine but unless it’s populated by things to do, it gets stale real fast. Far Cry 2 was basically one mission repeated like a billion times. Every mission and I mean every single mission played out the exact same way making the game an utter grind. With FC3, Ubisoft definitely need to spruce things up by offering players diverse and interesting quests. Also it would help if every freaking side quest wasn’t the exact same as well.

Oh and remember the re-spawning enemies from hell at the game’s many checkpoints? Add to that the excessive amount of backtracking and driving required to complete a single mission and it was like Ubisoft REALLY didn’t want players to enjoy their game.

Improved stealth

The only ninja is a stealthy ninja

Far Cry 2 may have been repetitive but gunplay was solid and satisfying. Sadly the same cannot be said about the game’s stealth. With FC3, Ubisoft really need to make the game flexible so I could blow stuff up and do things the Rambo way, but if I chose to complete a mission ninja style, it should allow me to do so. This obviously does not entail getting magically detected while you’re about to creep up on an unsuspecting guard.

Voice Actors who aren’t on drugs

Drugs are bad mmmkay

Drugs are bad mmmkay

I personally thought every voice actor in FC2 was on some serious drugs rambling a sentence off faster than Scatman John. This was amusing sure, but I could barely understand what anyone in the game was trying to say. From what we’ve seen of Far Cry 3, the voice acting looks top notch but I strongly hope that it’s not limited to the antagonist.

I guess that’s about it from my end. Do add in your wishes for Far Cry 3 in the comments section below. In the meantime, here’s the gameplay video in case you missed it the first time during our bitching E3 coverage.
