Here are five iPad Games to look forward to in 2011.

The iPad may have been officially launched in India a million years later after its international release but what matters is that it’s finally here. Besides work and all that boring stuff, gaming is something the iPad does really well and keeping that in mind, here are five games you should keep an eye out for this year. Work work
Minecraft is an open ended game that is virtually limitless in scope. In it you get you play around with blocks creating pretty much anything your heart desires. Like an RPG, the world of Minecraft is full of hostile as well as friendly creatures so make sure you plan your construction appropriately. Creator Markus "Notch" Persson is a bit tight lipped on details but claims it will not be a blind port. It will in fact only ship with the features that make sense on touch screen platforms. Where all the brains at?
Based on the graphic novel and not the wildly popular TV show of the same name, details regarding the iPad version of this game are a bit skinny. But since it’s being developed by Telltale Games, makers of the Sam and Max series, we’re going to go ahead and assume that it may play out like an adventure game. That thought is only further strengthened by the fact that episodic content has also been planned out for the game. Of course we could be wrong and it could turn out to be a really violent FPS, which we’re totally fine with. Market watch
I haven’t played a ton of RPGs on iOS platforms so The Shadow Sun has most definitely caught my interest. Developed by Ossian Studios, The Shadow Sun is a Western RPG that draws inspiration from a bunch of big names like Fable, the Witcher and Zelda as well as the horrific works of H.P. Lovecraft. And just so you know, Ossian has worked on quite a bit of content for the Neverwinter games so I’m pretty confident they know their RPGs real well. This wasn't a good idea
Yet another episodic game from Telltale games, Jurassic Park will allow players to experience the perils and excitement of umm Jurassic Park. Unlike previous games that were more action oriented, Telltale’s version is more story and character driven - like a Heavy Rain if you will. This obviously means you won’t be able to stab dinosaurs in the face a la Turok. Instead, you’ll experience all sorts of drama and tension as man meets 40 feet pre-historic beast. Starcraft II what now?
Originality may not be one of developer Gameloft’s stronger points but that doesn’t make their iOS games any less enjoyable. They’ve been inspired by a ton of successful franchises that have translated into games like N.O.V.A. (Halo), Shadow Guardian (Uncharted 2) etc. and now they’re about to be inspired by Starcraft II. The result is StarFront Collision an RTS game that’ll feature an in-depth single player mode as well as four person competitive play. |
