Gear Up For The 3G Revolution With 3G Handsets Under Rs. 10,000

The promise of 3G speeds for mobile connectivity is almost here. While most handsets priced over Rs. 10,000 are fully loaded to handle the speed burst, not everyone can afford to spend that much. With that in mind I thought I’d give you guys the a few affordable choices in handsets that will put those of you with tighter budgets in the same slipstream of data connectivity as those whose wallets are larger. So without further ado, here are a few 3G handsets that are priced under the Rs. 10,000 mark.

The Mi-300 is India’s cheapest Android powered handset yet. It offers quite a bit of functionality for the average user from social networking to GPS and customizable interfaces. Via Android’s Marketplace application you can download games and all kinds of handy apps for all purposes. Spice has also included quite a few of their customary freebies with the device like access to Ibibo, railway information, Wapedia, Flickr and other sites. Currently it’s still running on Android 1.6 but it’ll soon receive an OTA update to Éclair aka 2.1

The Cheapest Android on the block

The Mi-300 also includes -
  • 3.2-inch display with a 320 x 480 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0 (mini)
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
  • microSD card support
Samsung Monte - Rs. 8, 150 (Best Price)
The Samsung Monte may not be the newest handset on this list but according to my sources, it’s still a pretty popular handset in the market. For the price it’s available at, it offers a significant amount of connectivity options. From GPS to Wi-Fi the Monte is loaded. The Mote uses Samsung’s TouchWiz UI with multiple desktops and widgets for handset features as well as social networking.

It's stylish and feature rich

Samsung’s Monte is also equipped with -
  • 3.0-inch display with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (mini)
  • 3 megapixel camera
