Here's a list of the more affordable handsets equipped with full QWERTY keypads to facilitate quick texting.

Phones With QWERTY Keypads Under Rs. 12,000

Taking into account that in this day and age, Social Networking and Texting is the ‘IN’ thing, it’s important for users to be able to do so with ease. The QWERTY keypad for the mobile platform has been a real boon in this context providing us with a near keyboard-like experience to enable speedier entry of data. So if you happen to think on the same lines, here are a few handsets that come with QWERTY keypads. The list includes those handsets that won’t cost you an arm and a leg so we’ve kept our budget at Rs. 12,000.

Nokia E63 – Rs. 11,059
Nokia’s E63 is the little brother of the very popular E71. It may not have the suave steel finish of big brother or its 3 megapixel AF camera, but it manages to retain quite a lot of the design with a full QWERTY keypad and even adds a little of its own flavor with the inclusion of a 3.5mm handsfree port.

It also features -
  • a 2.3-inch TFT LCD with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution
  • 3G with HSDPA support, EDGE/GPRS
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 2MP camera
  • FM radio with RDS and Visual Radio
  • microSD card support for external memory
Samsung Corby TXT – Rs. 7300
Following the popularity of their Corby handset, Samsung unleashed a slew of models in the same range to better suit the Social networking community. First on the list is the Corby TXT that looks like a business class handset with its full QWERTY keypad, but the colorful rear panels, that can be changed at will, will alter that opinion immediately. The Corby TXT, like its touchscreen counterpart is very well priced and offers a host of social networking functions.

The Corby TXT also comes with -
  • a 2.2-inch TFT LCD with a 176 x 144 pixel resolution
  • EDGE/GPRS
  • Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 2MP camera
  • FM radio with RDS
  • microSD card support for external memory
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
LG KS360 – Rs. 8,099
The KS360 is a slightly more conventional mobile expect that it doesn’t have a standard keypad at all and only comes equipped with a slide out QWERTY option. It’s quite a feature rich handset as it is and the keypad is quite well laid out with independent buttons for each letter. It also has special buttons highlighted for use with games etc. The display is also partially touch-sensitive with respect to just a couple of features like the dial pad.

LG’s KS360 is equipped with -
a 2.4-inch TFT LCD with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution
GPRS
Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0
2MP camera
FM radio
microSD card support for external memory

 7.0

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
