Mobile Grudge Match: Micromax Superfone Canvas 2 A110 vs iBall Andi 4.5h

The Canvas 2 A110 now takes on the iBall Andi 4.5h. who do you think will win?

Mobile Grudge Match: Micromax Superfone Canvas 2 A110 vs iBall Andi 4.5h

The Canvas 2 has managed to outshine the two handsets we’ve pitted it against so far and now we have a third contender. iBall’s latest entrant into the market, the Andi 4.5h, looks like a formidable opponent to the Canvas 2 A110, at least on paper. Let’s see how it fares against it in our grudge match.

iBall Andi 4.5h – Rs.12,500
The Andi 4.5h is extremely well-built and has a lot better aesthetic appeal as compared to the Canvas 2 A110. This, of course, is purely subjective and will defer from person to person. The smaller screen size of 4.5-inches and a slightly higher resolution gives the handset a much higher pixel count, which means images and text are a lot sharper and clearer. iBall also uses an IPS display so you also get very good viewing angles along with good colour reproduction. Due to the smaller screen size, the phone is also a lot lighter. Unlike most handsets in this price range, the Andi 4.5h does come with ambient light sensor, which is a big bonus.

In terms of horsepower, the handset is powered by the same Mediatek 6577 dual core CPU that’s present in the A110. Because of this, media capabilities are also very similar. The UI, however, is a lot smoother thanks to the 1GB of RAM onboard. There’s still a slight hint of lag, but not as much as we’ve seen in the A110. This also reflects in the benchmarks. Except for NenaMark 2, the Andi 4.5h manages to edge out the Canvas 2 in all the other benchmarks. It does lose out in Wi-Fi though, as you only get 802.11 b/g and no ‘n’.  Overall, the Andi 4.5h seems like much better polished phone and even functions like one.

We’ve already spoken about the Mcicromax Canvas 2 A110 at length in our grudge match against the Karbonn A21 and the Samsung Gaalxy S Duos S7562 , so let’s head to the score card for a head-to-head comparison.

Finally! A handset worthy of beating the A110

Finally! A handset worthy of beating the A110

The bottom line
For about Rs. 2,500 more, the iBall Andi 4.5h comes across as a clear winner and is the one I would recommend as well. It does lack a bit in the battery department, which is the only real major downer for this product, but other than that it’s clearly superior to the Canvas 2 A110. If you are on a really tight budget, then the A110 is still a viable option. However, for a little more, you are getting a better performing handset with the same or better feature set.

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
