Top 5 Smartphones Under Rs. 15,000

Amongst all the smartphone operating systems out there, Nokia’s Series 60 UI based on the Symbian OS platform is the most popular. With unrivalled application availability and ease of use, it’s no surprise that some of the best mid-range smartphones are all from Nokia. Here are our picks in the under-Rs. 15,000 range, sorted by price.

Nokia E50 (Rs. 13,000)
Nokia’s only Eseries business smartphone to make it in the under Rs. 15,000 list, the E50 is also the slimmest smartphone available from Nokia. Its roots can be traced in the subdued Nokia 6610, updated with the latest Series 60 3rd Edition UI, the wonderful NetFront xHTML browser, a high-resolution QVGA (240x320) display, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, 70mb of internal memory and a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot, quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth and USB support. It also comes with BlackBerry email connectivity, Team Suite and Mail for Exchange as an option.

Nokia 5500 Sport (Rs. 12,600)
The 5500 comes with special sports activity related features such as dust and splash resistance, stop watch, steps calculator, calorie counter etc., but it is also a very worthy smartphone running the Series 60 3rd Edition UI. It has a smaller 208x208 display, but that just leads to the overall compactness of the phone. It also has a 2 megapixel camera, stereo FM radio, an MP3/AAC player, 64MB of internal memory and a microSD/TransFlash slot, tri-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth and USB. It also has a flashlight if you prefer jogging at night!

 8.5

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
