Top 10 Android tablets 2012

We have a lot of options in the Android tablet segment out there. From high-end, advanced feature-packed, hefty price tagged devices to entry-level, affordable, yet decently crafted, feature-loaded tablets. Well, that's too much to choose from, unless you know the budget and the right set of features you can get at that budget. We have also listed out the Top 10 Android tablets currently available in the Indian market, which could help resolve your dilemma over which tablet to pick, depending upon what suits you the best.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 (GT-P7500) - Rs. 30,990
This piece of Samsung's innovation is one of the finest Android tablets available in the market. This highly acclaimed 10-inch tablet poses a slim profile at 565 grams. The Galaxy Tab 750 or 10.1 features the dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. It has a 3MP camera with LED flash and the TouchWiz UI layer upon the Honeycomb operating system, gives it a lively appearance. The device serves as a good media hub, and has 16GB of storage space. Flipkart is selling the device for Rs. 30,990, and it can be bought along with the keyboard dock for Rs. 34,000.

Lenovo IdeaPad K1- Rs. 22,724
Next on our list is the Ideapad tablet which jumps right out of Lenovo's kitty. This Lenovo tablet sports a good fit and finish with its aluminum body and it's a tad heavy compared to other 10-inch capacitive tablets. Though it runs on the Android Honeycomb operating system, Lenovo has customized the user interface to a great extent. It has a 5MP camera with LED flash and can record videos at 720p @30fps. The price of this tablet has been heavily slashed by about 10K on Flipkart, compared to the release price of Rs. 33,990.

Sony Tablet S – Rs. 26,500
The first thing you may notice about the Sony Tablet S is its eye-catchy distinct design like a rolled paperback. With a 9.4-inch capacitive touchscreen, the tablet runs on Honeycomb 3.2 with an added touch of the Sony's gaming attributes. It comes preloaded with Crash Bandicoot and Pinball, and the tablet also transforms into a controller offering touch buttons. While most of the tablets do not put a lot of thought into the camera equipped by it, the Sony Tablet S features a 5MP camera. All in all, this device performs quite well, apart from the good looks it sports.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 730 - Rs. 28,999
Yet another Galaxy takes a spot on our list. This tablet takes a position between the Tab 750 and Tab P60 with its screen size and price.  It sports a 8.9-inch touchscreen size and here again, Samsung lets it run on the Android Honeycomb. It is powered by a dual core 1GHz processor and can handle 720p videos effectively. This tablet has a decent set of media support along with support for 3G, Wi-Fi and 16GB onboard memory. This tablet can also be picked from Flipkart dipped in red or black.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101G – Rs. 43,000
This tablet brings the best of both worlds - touch and type, right in your palms. The Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101G is 12.9mm in thickness and weighs 695 grams. However, it comes with a detachable dock featuring a 10-inch Eee PC keyboard and weighing another 640 grams. If you thought that this was just a plain old keyboard, then you'd be sadly mistaken. This Honeycomb-based tablet doesn’t support telephony, but comes with a 5MP camera, 16GB or 32GB onboard memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and ispowered by Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor. The 32GB version is available at Flipkart.

 6.5

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is the only new 10.1-inch Android tablet to launch this year. And with no one to contend against, it is commanding a substantial premium in the market. This is not any run-of-the-mill tablet, though. The care and polish delivered by Sony is simply brilliant as we’ll see in a bit.
