There is also the ever increasing in popularity - Whatsapp. and it is cross platform as well. The interface is not as great on BlackBerry devices as compared to iOS or Android but it gets the job done well and it is completely free apart from the initial $1.99 on iOS
I quite like Samsung's ChatON! Quick and more platforms supported!
I still don't understand why Whats App is not free on iTunes.
@nash because they know iOS users will pay for Whatsapp, given the amount they doled out for their iOS devices. It's free on BlackBerry because they're competing with BBM. And they're free on Android because Android has enough "free" messenger services. The advent of iMessage is still not enough to get Whatsapp free...
That being said, I beyond hate these free messaging applications. Sure, they're helpful when you're texting someone internationally but local SMSes are cheap enough. Save me some data and send me a text... Preferably not in SMS lingo...
Whatsapp is good
WhatsApp is only a trial thing for Android. After one year you have to pay up .
As for iOS - Most of the apps are free on Android but with lots and lots of ads .
I think its a good investment to give 100 bucks a year than texting which will obviously amount up to more than 300 a year
Well, as far as Whatsapp is concerned, i think they are extending the trial automatically. I had installed Whatsapp on my phone on March 2011, and it used to show up that the trial will end on March 2012. Now I see that they've extended my trial period to August 2012.
Sure is. It better and worse than BBM in many ways.
