but gta 4 still runs in 10-12 FPS even in medium settings

I used to get 18 - 25 fps when I was using my old x2 4200 @ just 2.45 GHz (on a 9600GT) so the processor isn't a problem. Something else is wrong.

You have to check what background processes are running, and if there is anything else taking CPU cycles unnecessarily. Your C2D at 3.7 should give at least 30 FPS. Would you mind doing a clean reinstall of the OS?

u r right dvijaydev46. i have seen a video in youtube using the same C2D(3.0Ghz) and Graphic card as mine, he recorded the game using FRAPS, it showed 32-35 FPS, he played the game as smooth as silk. :shock:

i did reinstall the OS 5 times (had some software issues) and i use CCleaner and tuneup 2009 full version to clean the registries and i also use Gamebooster to close the background applications but still no luck.i have to disable the traffic to run it smoothly, in my case playing w/o traffic in gta 4 is BORING....

which version of drivers are you using ? Have you patched GTA IV to the latest version ? Is it original or pirated ? Run a hijackthis and paste the output here

Do you have the original copy of windows? Or at least not a trojan infested one? Try getting a new copy of windows installation. You can also download the free version of 3dmark 06 and compare the scores in the net .

i'm using 186.18 WHQL xp for nvidia given by CHIP in August edtion.yes i have patched to 1.3 version.no it is not original.
