According to "Times of india" (at the time of ps3 launch) Sony is going to slash the price of new PS2 to that of grey market's modded PS2. They said PS2 will be available for Rs7000 (after the PS3 lauch). Try it on Sony's exclusive showrooms.
Beware! some times original Sony dealers also sells modded PS2.
and thats a bad thing, y? (modded=ability play copied games right?)Originally Posted by Ankitvkc

Well, Tanmay / Bahadur, as u say, if i bot an original brand new PS2 from a Sony dealer, will i still be able to play copied games ? No.
This is a very delicate situation.2 options.
1) Get a modded Ps2 (which might be el-cheapo duplicate parts and lenses) from the grey market and play copied games till the console lasts or
2) Get a warranty piece and buying and playing only original games ?
I know mod-chips are available which u can buy one and DIY on an original showroom piece. But can we buy and do this in India ?
Well, another thing, as the PS2 is getting a bit old. If I buy a modded 360 from the grey market, I can be sure that original parts and lenses have been replaced by cheap duplicates ? Or, as in the above case, Can we buy an original 360, buy a mod chip and DIY ?
Yes, we can, but can we buy it here? Does anybody sell these mod-chips in India ?
Modding a Console will anyways void your warrenty. And installing a Mod Chip is not that easy. A Solder-less ModChip is available for a PS2 which is quite easy enough and comes will full Instructions.
But for a X360 afaik there's no Solderless Chip, the Mod Chip that is available needs to be soldered carefully. No I don't recommend DIY for that.
In both cases buying a Pre-Modded Console from a Dealer will be good as most of them atleast give a Months warrenty.
yes it had come in TOI abt the price og price being only 7ks.Originally Posted by Ankitvkc
