Since I didn't get any reply and I urgently need some views, here's my post here.
I've been using the Motorola V980 for a very long time, and it has started to show it's age, though not in the 3G department. It's giving me some serious troubles with it's battery, changing which isn't helping either. So, I've decided to get a new phone. Here are my priorities:
1) Must be a QWERTY. My thumbs and me hate even the sight of an Alphanumeric keypad
2) Must have a good Camera. I don't want a professional grade, just something to take good and clear photos, as in objects and people. My V980 has dual LED flashes, so that would be a plus point.
3)Should have 3G. It's fast becoming the de-facto of the mobile industry.
4)A large screen would be a nice addition too. I spend about 4 hours commuting 2 days a week, so being able to read something would be a boon for me. Touch screen is okay, but only if it can display a QWERTY.
5) A GPS would be a good addition. Because there are times when people asks me how is it that I don't know my own city very well. To that I always say "heh! There's Google". So a phone that can point me in the proper way will be good, if possible.
6)Finally my budgets is around Rs. 5K. No more.
Now from all these, Android would seem a good thing, right? But I remember [xubz] as saying that if going for an Android, avoid the sub 10k ones. They are under-powered. I have also personally seen it with one of my friend. It's slow. So with those priorities on my mind I searched flipkart and came up with this:
http://www.flipkart.com/mobiles/airtyme ... e44f7e5068
It seems to meet all of my requirements and is quite a looker, but being a newb in the mobile dept, I decided to get your opinion on it, plus get any suggestions, if possible of a better variety within that price range.
Oh, this phone has one of the highest resolution that I've ever seen on a 3.2 inch (barring the iPhone)

Looking for a new phone... as a gift for someone (as well as for myself)...
1. Needs to be cheap... Budget less that 10K
2. Either QWERTY/Touch Screen
3. Android/Symbian Preferred
4. Not Samsung, Spice, Micromax
5 Preferred Brands: Nokia, LG, Sony Ericsson, HTC.
6 Must Be able to play videos properly (low res/3gp will do... my x2-01 hangs while playing large videos even large 3gp videos at 320x240 res)
have narrowed down: W8, X8, X10 mini, X10 mini pro, optimus one... any others will also do...
thanks in advance...

^Have a look at Nokia E5 for 9k, it does meet your requirements.
Don't even consider W8, X8, X10 mini, X10 mini pro.
Optimus One is a good choice.

I need a phone under 10K . Requirements are as follows :
1. Good camera with flash. Front cam not a priority.
2. Wifi/3G , GPS
3. Memory Expansion
4. Touch/Type doesnt matter
5. Good battery backup
6. OS not an issue. Can be Android, S60 etc ..
7. Strictly no Micromax, Spice and the like. Would like any of Nokia, LG, SE, Samsung.
I'm going to the need the phone basically for fast internet browsing and music. A good camera is also needed.
I have Nokia's E5 in my mind at the moment. LG O1 was another choice, but it's lack of flash is a deterrent. If there are any other alternatives , i would like to know . Thanks

Flyer, hands down. And it'll get a Honeycomb update with Sense 3.5 very soon.

Please suggest phone budget 18k.
I will be using it to rec videos, taking pictures, playing games, listening to music (occasionally though) and to talk and send & receive SMSs
.
Preferences : Android (2.2/2.3), 1ghz cpu, good ram, HD video rec (30fps), at least 5mp cam, 3.7" - 4" screen, more then 1gb internal storage and lastly good looks.
I've been considering samsung galaxy s I9000sl (17-18k), LG Optimus black, Optimus 2x. Also how is SE xperia mini? It does record hd videos but I read somewhere that it duplicates some of the frames so the fps is not actually 30 and the video quality reduces because of that and it has a smaller screen 3". Apart from that it seems to be quite a good phone for 12-13k price.

I've been using ancient tech for a while now. Decided to get something fancy but not too pricey. Dell XCD35 selling at 8000 caught my eye. I mentioned this to a friend overseas and he immediately said he could match it with supposedly superior HTC Wildfire for the same price. He was kind of pushing me towards HTC and I was reluctant. On Christmas day he called up about some sale offers at his place and was pitching for HTC again. I got restless and told him to just get the cheapest device on the floor. It was a Huawei Ideos X1 for 4500 inr. Now the Huawei has been bought. A cursory check of reviews show it may not be a bad phone after all. I know it's water under the bridge but still wanted to get some opinion here on the Huawei X1.
Anyone here with first hand experience on Huawei X1? It'll be my first Android/Smart phone.
