Lightbulb Can the PureView 808 turn Nokia's fortunes around?

Nokia has just announced the PureView 808 for Rs.33,899 and is positioning it towards those interested in serious photography on the go. We are really excited about the new 41MP sensor and based on some early impressions of it, it raises the bar for camera phones. But at the end of the day, it's still a smartphone and it should be able to deliver the same performance as its competition. Symbian Belle is the main deterrent for many, at least it is for me. Would you be willing to sacrifice apps and ease of use for the 41MP sensor?

I dont think this will be the phone for Nokia. Seriously, getting a DSlr is a lot more sensible. lol. how can people pit a full fledged Dslr to this?

If this was a Windows Phone, I would have considered...maybe.

PureView 808 is something for the rare Nokia fans, no one in the right senses is going to buy one for 31k.After reading the white paper of pureview its basically a 5 mp camera (I really don't know how to put it out on text nor did I understand it properly). In simple terms-
OS - sucks, almost like dead thing which is degrading slowly.
    Design - sucks.
The only pro points is the camera and maybe/hopefully the battery life.
Why will someone invest in this ? Just for the camera ? If someone is so serious about it they would already own a good DSLR. Where will this stand among the quadcore HTC One X and and S3 - with all those animations and cool features while all this one has is a camera
As for Windows and PureView ,that might do the trick like cyberjunkie told , mostly Nokia will go for that.
Hoping that they have a mass storage mode on WP 8,I really don't like the idea of converting movies and videos to watch it on the phone, this is where Android makes me happy ,I just have to copy-paste and use some MX player .(Sorry for diverting from the topic).

Psst -I think ksg91 MIGHT buy this one.

In my honest opinion I think this particular handset may not do as well as one expects it to. But credit has to be given to the brand for taking a bold step and launching a smartphone with these crazy optics. It is no surprise it won the best gadget at the MWC. However the reason it may not do well is only because of the operating system. Symbian has lost a significant amount of ground to the likes of Android, iOS and even Windows Phone for that matter. Maybe Windows Phone is not yet ready for PureView technology and Nokia saw it fit not to launch a handset using this OS but if the brand does indeed have an arsenal of PureView handsets, then Lumia should be the way to go and not Symbian, at least for now.

No. They could have given us a 21MP sensor with WP7 with a lower price. I doubt that this thing is gonna sell.IIRC isn't this some kind of collector's item with limited number being manufactured ?

IMO it would sell well at 25k.

@GTX : I don't think it is any limited edition phone.

Well, I used the phone for a while during the hands on, and if you're one of those who's constantly capturing photos everywhere, this is THE phone to buy. Only for that particular reason. Comes handy at places where cameras aren't allowed, probably? Just thinking aloud. Well, Symbian Belle doesn't have too much to offer in terms of apps, but besides that, it's pretty usable.

Lol they have biggest success selling N8 with 12MP at 24k and you think it will sell a phone with 41MP camera sensor well only at 25k? Fitting a 41MP sensor in small phone isn't easy. More over it has special gpu for handling such huge imaging processes. Do you think construction cost would be that lower?
And considering about Symbian Belle. It's good. And apps availability, it do have limited apps compared to other platforms but prices of apps are dirt cheap. I would think 100 times before spending $5 for an app, but not before spending 5 INR.
