4.What is the performance gap b/w i5 2400 and i5 2500k ???????

5. Is it quite ok if i go for little higher end AMD processor rather than intel????

no need of going for a high end amd.intel i5 is more than enough for gaming.

You can compromise on the mobo. Get nothing under HD6870/GTX560.

Other than overclocking, minor.

You want to get a 10-cores AMD cpu?? -__-
AMD Bulldozers have very high overclocking potential but not performance.

There is no such thing as good or bad 'combo'. One just need to buy a motherboard which suits one's purpose/s. And there are a lot of motherboards for i5. And talking about 'i5' which i5 are you referring to? There are two core i5 families: 1st generation i5's which use LGA1156 socket and 2nd generation i5's or Sandybridge which use LGA1155 socket. The two are different. No motherboard supports both the sockets.
If you need more help, mention the i5 model and your budget for the motherboard.
