    ASUS XONAR DX or DX2

    Hi

I want a good soundcard for my new PC with Vista. I have future plan of playing DVDs in PC and sending the audio to a separate music system (speaker + Ampli setup or Home theatre setup).

I have CM-590 cabinet and Biostar I45 mobo. I have not put any Floppy drive and now only one PCI-E slot is used for my GPU (HD4870 1 GB).
As far as I know, Asus Xonar sound card have following varieties:
ASUS XONAR DX - PCI-E - Not readily available in Market (Delhi)
    ASUS XONAR D2X - PCI-E
    ASUS XONAR D2- PCI
    ASUS XONAR U1 - USB

I have read that DX and DX2 cards require additional power (PCI-E power availability is not sufficient), whereas D2 power requirement is met from PCI slot.

I am very particular about sound quality and SNR. Can you guys suggest the best suitable sound card for me. Budget is not a constraint if the performance is really worth.

    Thanks
    Amit

Choose d2 against d2x- provided you have equally worthy speakers and using spdif connection.

    Thanks Sorcerer.
Why you advise D2 over D2x? Can you please elaborate? I plan for AudioEngine A5 speakers. Hope, it will be able to honour D2 / D2x/DX.

Are you out of your head or something?Show me one aasss like you who uses a SPDIF connection after spending over Rs 4000 already for the D/A converters, that is exactly why we buy an audio card...for the D/A converters and not for the SPDIF connection. He buys a D/A converter and again buys a D/A converter cause he uses the SPDIF....god.

And did you change your stupid combination Xonar D2 and ATP 3 ...Ha Ha Ha LOL......

Its like a GTX 295 doing the graphics while the display is an 15inch crt, thats how wise you are!
