hardware for small office
Hi everyone,
I am planning to open my own office wherein I would be needing 5 computers.
Main requirements:
Word processing
C++ coding
lightweight 2D games
I am on a tight budget and want to adopt a client server model where I would be using 1 server(will also be used for general purpose work) and 4 clients.
Now I am confused between two options: Thin clients or using graphic card on server.
In thin clients will have option of expansion and moreover I might use them to be standalone work stations in future.
If i use a graphic card on server and let other 4 access the same pc thru a usb hub then what will be the difference as compared to thin clients in reference to performance or other aspects.
If we do come to a solution then please guide me to a step by step method to setup the system.
Thanx in advance for your help :D .

Check out SpectraIndia's Thin Client Computing Solutions.
Thin Clients are generally cheaper, but performance wise, they suck - period. I'm skeptical to your idea of using them as stand-alone work stations.
Hey! Why limit your productivity? You might as well buy Workstations or try to build your own.
How tight is your budget? Maybe if you're specific I'd be able to be more helpful.
Out of curiosity, what is your business about?

P.S: I think a thin client server model would suffice for general word processing, programming and pacman.

Hi ArcherMckinley,
Atually I have been doing transcription jobs for my US clients from a very long time. Presently all my work is online and my teammates are from Philipines and US. But coordinating with everyone is such a pain in the neck that I want atleast 5 people of my own who can work atleast 8 hours daily.
The work is mostly word processing work and audio encoding decoding. That is why I dont need high end systems and money is a concern as of now. Max budget I am looking at is Rs. 40000 as i have other expenses to handle like setting up my website payment gateway etc.....

I donno. Sorry if I can't be a little more helpful.
Try to get in touch with a company that provides Thin Client Computing Solutions. Ask them to guide you through, or try seeking some sort-of answer on a few other online forums (TechSupport - Tom's Hardware - Etc).
Good luck!
