Question Gaming PC that is Sasta manda tikau (need not be future proof)

    1. What is your MAX budget?
    35-40 thousand

    2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
Yes. That is why I am asking my betters.

    3. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
Playing games like Fables 3 and Batman Arkham City. And Fallout 3. GTA4. Don't care about resolution and high grade graphics. Just want to play them at a good frame rate at minimum graphics settings.

    4. Planning to overclock?
Nope. want to see the PC as cool as possible as it is kept in a room that heats up in summer afternoons and don;t have an AC.

    5. Which OS are you planning to use?
    Windows 7

    6. How much hard drive space is needed?
    250- 500 GB.

    7. What resolution will the screen run at?
20 inch screen. Dunno about the resolution.

    8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
    3-4

    9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Nope. So simpler is better. Have downloaded a guide from makeuseof site. But can always get it done from town shop after buying components myself at Nehru place.

    10. When are you planning to buy the system?
    7-30 days.

    11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
No. After playing Fables 3, Arkham City and GTA4 don't think will play any games in future but even a mid range PC can do normal tasks in future , right on the new Windows 8 OS coming out shortly, rightly ? Please correct me if I m wrong.

    13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
Uttar Pradesh but will buy stuff from Nehru Place, Delhi.

    14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
Want a cool PC that doesn't overheat.
Can play Fables 3, Batman Arkham City and GTA4. On lowest settings but at decent frame rate.
Which OS is better 32 bit or 64 bit ?
Also advise about cabinet and power supply unit.
Also can this computer be used as hackintosh with a parallels or boor camp or some such arrangement.

I also wanted to know if I will have to apply thermal paste and if yes whats a good VFM brand.

Err, not to be rude but can't I shave off any more money elsewhere.
Like I said i just need the games that are already out and a configuration that keeps its cool. (is any processor with onboard graphics card capable of running these games at lowest graphical setting with decent frame rate).
I know I shouldn't skimp on PSU unit but if you could point out the bare minimum processor and graphics card I'd be grateful.

Archer has set up an excellent design. For your budget. The GTX 560 is a very good card in that budget.

AMD Alternatives (since some of the games you mentioned can utilize more than 2 cores):

    CPU:
Flipkart: AMD 3 GHz AM3 Phenom II 1075T Processor: Processor

    Mobo:
Flipkart: ASUS M4A88T-M LE Motherboard: Motherboard

if you really want to save some money you can go for amd llano a8-3850 6.5k(or a8 3870,but i don't know its price) and sapphire 6670 1gb 4.8k.on-broad graphics of processors and discrete gfx card will run in hybrid crossfire.you will be able to run games that you mention at low-medium setting.

But i will also recommend you to go with i3 + gtx 560 combo.

    @avtar2008: +1

If he's looking for something that'll just do fine, Llano is a great suggestion. I've liked the APUs and am very hopeful of Trinity.

Llano might give him trouble unfortunately. The games he mentioned are very CPU dependant. So the number of instructions per clock matters.

Archer, it is nice to see you too. If you take a look over at Chatzy, you will see why I have been away for so many days.

Knowledge keeps getting dropped. Got to know what APUs and crossfire are.

So that means without a buying a separate card I'll be able to play these games ? AMD A8-3870K is priced 7,850 INR here while AMD A8-3850 "Llano" APU is priced Rs 6,850 here. But if I use sapphire 6670 1gb I will get better performance ? Or only with combination of a discrete graphics card "Llano" APU will be able to run these games ? This guy is getting averages of about 33 and minimums of 17 but it is for HTPC with max resolution of 1024X768 . So if I play games at that resolution I won't need a seprate GPU ? (forgive if I show my ignorance, last time I bought a PC was to play GTA San Andreas then somebody got me Compaq CQ62 228DX for my work. Getting into gaming after a long time so please cut me some slack. )
