Help Building an Nvidia GTX 680 Gaming Rig

    Hi

Currently using Asus G72Gx RBBX05 Laptop which has a GTX260M, but heat dissipation is a real issue on this laptop. Therefore, I want to go for a desktop - Need help with building/assembling a Nvidia GTX 680 based Desktop - specially aimed at Gaming/3d modelling using Blender.

Below are the components that I already know about. Need your help with deciding the other components:

    1. Motherboard :

    2. Processor :

    3.RAM :

    4. Cabinet : (Cooling solution required?)

    5. Gpu : Looking at buying ZOTAC ZT-60101-10P GeForce GTX 680 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDMI Dual DVI DisplayPort SLI Ready Graphics Card

    6. Monitor :LG D2342P (l already have this)

Not looking for seperate keyboard/gaming mouse, as I use xbox 360 controller with windows. I reckon the budget would be around 80K, but can extend some more depending on the recommendations - Hope you guys can help me decide on the remaining components.

Re: Help Building an Nvidia GTX 680 Gaming Rig

Thanks for the reply Anmol -

I have now ordered the following from amazon :

    (1) Intel Core i7 3770K Processor 3.5 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155 - BX80637I73770K

    (2) ZOTAC ZT-60101-10P GeForce GTX 680 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDMI Dual DVI DisplayPort SLI Ready Graphics Card

    (3) Asus MAXIMUS V GENE Z77 mATX DDR3 Intel LGA 1155 Motherboard

Now the questions that I have for you is :

    (a) The memory you mentioned is that really compatible with this board?
    (b) Whats the max memory I can load?
    (c) I was checking the manufacturers site, and the Qualified vendor list for noting the memory compatiblity (for the mother board) - and I cannot place the Gskill Ripjawsx in that.(Link here -> http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...es-8GB-QVL.pdf) so is that really compatible
    (d) From where can I buy a good cabinet including cooling solution in India?

Can you please help me on this at the earliest.

    Thanks.

Congratulations for getting a cracker of a rig.

Edit : Get some good 1600MHz RAMS and over clock them.( Ripjaws-Vengence-Redline)
I think the RAMS wont be a problem even if they are outside the QVL. But if your heart dosnt agree you have to hunt for the Corsairs, coz Patriots are hard to find. And the particular Corsairs m4X is something I havnt seen with dealers, the ones I have come across are edit : M1a ...most probably...do check.

For cooling solution and cabinet check Itdepot.com and Prime abgb and have your pick. I have already mentioned two great air cooling cabinets at great prices. And Im actully using one of them the Phantom and have lived with the HAFX for around 4 months.....I completely love both of them for what they are.

Speaking of corsairs, I see that these are available - Corsair Vengeance Blue 16 GB DDR3 SDRAM Dual Channel Memory Kit CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B. Would this be a correct fit?

    Check these....

    G.SKILL-SEARCH BY MANUFACTURER MODEL NAME

I would have settled with either Trident or Ripjaws.

    Thanks again Anmol.

I went with your first suggestion, and here is what I ordered ->Patriot Memory Viper Xtreme Performance 8 GB DDR3 2400 PC3 19200 Processor (PXD38G2400C11K) .

Will keep you posted as I hunt down the rest of the parts (especially the cabinet) .

i have just started following your query.
So,can you tell how much you have already spend and much money is left in your pocket. And which parts are left to buy.
P.S.: congo for your [partial] new rig.

@ Dushtan Great memory but timings aint the best , I would still say consider the TridentX. But if QVL is in your heart....I wont confuse you anymore! Yes please do keep us posted, we would love to see the outcome. This rig of yours can overclock and perform like a madman so yes do take care of the cooling.
