hi all, need to submit a project in coll .. oracle back end and vb front end .. i am new to oracle, was using mysql and access earlier .. ne way whats the diff between the browser based oracle database manager and the command line one, also when i try to create a database i get this http://yfrog.com/5kcaptureerp ..
please help

Why are you creating a database ? You don't have to create new database. The database already exists and mounted.

oh ok, in mysql i used to create databases. What if i want to create a new database ? i have a few tables that i made jus for practicing the commands, i want to make a database to hold my project tables. Anyway am i using the right version to work with ? later in my course i need pl/sql, i dunno what that means .. yet ..

You don't need to create, period. If you need to create, that comes under advanced topic under DBA.

PL/SQL == Procedural extensions (read: loops, branching, conditionals) to SQL.

you're using 10gR2 - which is fine.

PL/SQL means Procedural Language. You can create a program/ procedure, functions to work with sql..

hi all, i am using oracle 9i in coll. There we connect to a server or something using a login id and pass, i want to implement the same at home with my laptop and desktop. I have oracle 10g administrator something installed on my laptop, how do i go about setting the server client setup ? please help ! also how do i install oracle on Linux mint 8, please help
