Windows 8 Pro Downloads are failing?

I've been facing problems downloading the upgrade version of Windows 8 Pro. The download itself is excruciatingly slow, and once it is complete it goes through a verification process. It is during this verification process that the "Access is Denied" message pops up.

I'm downloading Windows 8 Pro all over again! It hasn't found even a half-downloaded copy on my system and is starting from scratch! Let's see how this one ends...

Believe me or not, I am currently upgrading my system to Windows 8 Pro the same way as you are (via the upgrade assistant), it's been downloading since 12 PM and only 88% complete so far. Fingers crossed!

Did it complete? I've failed a number of times to upgrade on one machine, so I've given up on that machine. Downloading it on another machine now, let's see how that goes.

Re: Windows 8 Pro Downloads are failing?

It finally worked for me, but not on the machine I intended to upgrade.

I eventually tried it on my trusty 4-year old Thinkpad X200, and while it took a long time to finish the process (all of 2-hours), everything seems to be in order so far. Except of course a bunch of things which are native to the notebook like the fingerprint reader...hopefully will get drivers for them and that should be working pretty soon.

Overall, not too impressed with the Windows 8 store, and I still hate the horizontal scroll and two column text layouts while reading content inside an app...

Re: Windows 8 Pro Downloads are failing?

What information will I need to provide in order to be considered eligible for the Windows Upgrade Offer?
You should expect to provide information such as:

    • Name
    • Contact details
    • Email address
    • Phone number
    • PC purchase details
    • PC make / model
    • Purchase date
    • Retailer / PC manufacturer

Additional information may be requested to enable your registration to be validated, including the Windows 7 product key for your qualified PC.

Can someone who has installed/upgraded Win 8 confirm on the above(highlighted in red)?

They'll probably ask you for the product key stuck under your notebook/PC on the Microsoft sticker.

Basically, I was planning to reuse my laptops win 7 license in my old desktop which still is running XP. Is that possible?

I'm assuming, if I use win 7 product key during registration of win 8. MS would invalidate my win 7 key! Is it the case?
