Need for Speed Series to be Discontinued?
By: Avinash Bali   |   Dec 13, 2008

All right don’t go sobbing to your mom, since we haven’t received any official confirmation about this yet, but it seems Electronic Arts is considering axing the Need for Speed series for good.

According to The Electronic Playground EA has canceled all NFS games in production after the debacle that was Need for Speed Undercover. And it’s not just Undercover. Even since Most Wanted this series has been going downhill. I think Undercover just broke the camel’s back.

Either way we’ll keep you updated as and when we hear any sort of official announcement from EA.

Most Wanted was good! It had good ratings too!
NFS @ Feb 17, 2009
S**T man!!!! it is too bad if they discontunue... However, even though I have beea a NFS fanatic, I am getting a little bored of the Urban Racing again and again.... They need to think again.... However i still enjoy playing all the NFS so far out.... Lets hope they come out with something new in the same space.
Manas @ Jan 06, 2009
No I dont want the series to be discontinued, coz NFS is the best racing game that has been ever made and will be , forever. So ***k off whoever thought to discontinue this series!!!!!!!
Akash R @ Jan 04, 2009
hm.

quite dissapointing.

too bad. I've loved the NFS series since Need for speed III: Hot pursuit.

Even since then, i've been pirating every game that's come out. I remeber my favorite to date would be NFS carbon.
Second favorite would be undercover. I say this because it takes too damn long to load the road. whenever ur going really fast, the shitty programming makes it so you freeze, load the road (at a turn which u smash into) and then smash into the wall.

Hell, what racing games should i pirate if they discontinue?!? I'll have to pirate crappy non fun games like burnout or grid (they both suck)
Saibot @ Dec 31, 2008
well nfs rocks !! SCREW d critics ! Hope it never ends......
Agrata @ Dec 26, 2008
ya they ran out of ideas and hence they got maggie Q into undercover so the boys could feel the heat ha ha stop fooling us EA as we want some serious games and not hot scenes of women.

EA hire me as i can get nfs back to its greatness
pavan @ Dec 17, 2008
maybe they can make a fantasy one like mario kart but much more macho in appearence... they need to make something more radical!
zach @ Dec 16, 2008
its about time... things started spiraling down after most wanted
zach @ Dec 16, 2008
About time, it did.
MD @ Dec 15, 2008
Hell! NO I have Completed every game of NFS and always keep waiting for new releases. Pls dont stop NFS Series it's awesomely great and Fun!!!
Anky @ Dec 15, 2008
no way man.
there will always b somthin out.
pleasure if they continue!!
incubus @ Dec 15, 2008
no ... they cant just let down 1 million fan just like that ...... I bought the first NFS in 1996 . They should start making the game with better gameplay rather than graphics . Right now i am playing Grid just because of its amazing gameplay .
Karan @ Dec 15, 2008
Itsnot being discontinued, its gonna be taken over by EA Criterion Studons(makers of Burnout)EA is dissolving the EA Blackbox studios(who were owners of NFS IP)
Ravi Shanker @ Dec 15, 2008
NO they shoudnt !!!
Siddhartha Chabukswar @ Dec 14, 2008
If they keep producing lame games ... what do they expect to happen.
at least release the code for a few people to modify it so that the talented people can do some justice to the games engine
MaxAxe @ Dec 14, 2008
welllll i tink tat it shold be continued ...........
zak @ Dec 14, 2008
thats good news!!!!
Prashanth @ Dec 14, 2008
if they discontinues the series of need for speed , every car racing fan will suffer , so , i request that dont stop the series , . my favourite is need for speed - most wanted
Manish @ Dec 14, 2008
Yeah the series should be on the way to cease
SUNIL @ Dec 14, 2008
I don't know why they deviated into this rubbish street racing branch of the sport after the excellent Porsche Unleashed. That was the last and IMHO the best NFS ever before it went the way of the tuner craze. Too bad.
Sandeep Banerjee @ Dec 14, 2008
games
lais @ Dec 14, 2008
Seriously.........d game has been a disappointment after NFS MW.
They have 2 options........drop it or make it better.
Put into it d fact of moderate gameplay time(as in MW n not as in UG2), good graphics(to more of realistic), n a good story and they could bring it back up.
The worst i've seen is prostreet.
I'm not criticising it entirely. NFS series was xtremely good till MW.
I do hope they'd bring it back up with a good bang
Justine @ Dec 14, 2008
i think problem is not about pro street or undercover, gamers have become tired of same urban racing with police cars behind them again and again, same types of flyovers, same high rise buildings same types of crossings and junctions, either in day or night, all these thing have been repeated since nfs underground,I don't understand why EA would not consider going back to beautiful countrysides or rural areas what they did in nfs hot pursuit 2 or famous locations throughout the world or racing in some beautiful natural scenario as sony did in motorstorm 1 and 2 for ps3,why does EA always think that to earn popularity they always will have to make a bad lame story about police and robbers in a city?
ani.c @ Dec 14, 2008
They should not really do it. They should get back to their traditional gameplay
Sakib @ Dec 14, 2008
This was their own doing and not our fault. They tried to make it as street as they could ever since Most Wanted instead of sticking to the tradition gameplay we all loved in versions before that. Sad it had to come to this.
R @ Dec 13, 2008
i am ready to leave all my games for need for speed series

man its in the blood of every pc racer. how can EA even think of discontinuing it

if they will do so.. then after some years ill come up with a my own gaming series with the same name...its my promise for all NFS fans
MAYANK KALERAMANA @ Dec 13, 2008
After creating master pieces like Most Wanted & Underground 2, NFS has been terrible, Carbon was a good but yeah so after that the NFS Image has been spoil't.
Shreyas @ Dec 13, 2008
AND HOW MANY OF YOU BUY THE GAME TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS ???

U WANT THEM TO CONTINUE MAKIN AND PIRATE ??

THINK ABT IT....

ps:
I AM A PC GAMER AND I BUY ALL MY GAMES

I AM A STUDENT AND I DO PART TIME JOB. I EARN 10K PER MONTH, OUT OF THAT I BUY ALL GOOD GAMES RELEASED THAT YEAR
dm @ Dec 13, 2008
nfs zindabad i love nfs series!
shubham @ Dec 13, 2008
Chandan Brother you hit the nail on EA's head!!! Well Said!!

What EA needs to do is to abandon this STUPID obsession over tuner cars -- who wants bikini clad girls and a shit story

we need a new Need for Speed High Stakes!!! No fking cheap ass cutscenes -- just FERRARI -- PORSCHE -- LAMBOS -- EXOTIC LOCALES AND DAMN GOOD GAMEPLAY -- EA SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THIS SHIT "TUNING" CRAP AFTER MOST WANTED!!!!

SAD THAT EA WILL NEVER LISTEN TO OUR COMMENTS!
John Kurian @ Dec 13, 2008
you r waste man arjun sood
rat @ Dec 13, 2008
adi aayi selli ni dengumanale
rat @ Dec 13, 2008
cmon guys, get out of the NFS craze! good its done and dusted once and for all..now atleast ppl will look at other (better) racers out der..Burnout baby!!
Arjun Sood @ Dec 13, 2008
Rather than introducing a new sequel every year EA should take its time to make things better. Its ok even if EA releases a NFS game every two years. But then they should see to it that the game is really up to the mark. They should even consider beta versions for the NFS series. Its the only way to get to know what people really expect.
AND PLEASE EA, PLEASE FOCUS MORE ON GAME PLAY RATHER THAN CHEAP ACTING CHARACTERS AND STORIES !
Chandan @ Dec 13, 2008
no body can catch me.fuck
M.Harihanreddy @ Dec 13, 2008
Guys.... Not good, Not at all good. Well, i know that the the Pros Street and Undercover went bad, But really... They Should takea more time and Bring the Nfs Back with Bang!

SushDaGr8 @ Dec 13, 2008

comeon guyz ea can again bring the magik back....by putting on some exxxtra efforts and features!!!!
jatin kapur @ Dec 13, 2008
thats not good news need for speed underground1,2, most wanted all were good , eve carbon was ok ...its just pro street & undercover which have been a little on the wrong side of things me thinks they should give it 1 more shot
manas @ Dec 13, 2008
EA guys will be a bunch of losers If they Give up!!!
Namit @ Dec 13, 2008
lol is this a good news or a bad news.
vidhu @ Dec 13, 2008
most wanted was good and carbon was also fine...but after that all games were disaster...
but this doesn't mean that NFS series should be discontinued.
EA guys, please take ur time, learn from ur mistakes and come back with a bang. Don't stop NFS...
nooooo....... :-(
Jay CENA @ Dec 13, 2008
The games that came after most wanted were not upto mark but discontinuing the series is not an answer for that unless EA has other plans of bringing a new racing series.Still NFS was an iconic series.
jithin @ Dec 13, 2008
After Most Wanted everything is going wrong i think EA shud discontinue NFS n invest their money on some new project
Ricky @ Dec 13, 2008
what a bumer even i think only most wanted was good but nothing good followed up!!!
