Obscene Orkut Post Lands Youth in Prison

An obscene message about Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi on Orkut has landed a Gurgaon youth in prison. The message was allegedly posted on a community called "I hate Sonia Gandhi."

The probe began when a Pune Congress activist saw the message and notified the authorities, who in turn asked Google to provide them with the IP address of the person who posted the message. On receiving this information from Google the police found the 'perpetrator' -  22-year-old Rahul Krishnakumar Vaid.

Vaid worked for PC Solutions, an IT company in Gurgaon and was arrested from his home. He has been charged under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act 2000 and remanded to custody till the 21st of May.

Its not a matter of freedom of speech..One should not malign a person..there is a limit to television scoops..but obscene posts deserve such a punishment...

the whole story is around the word "Obscene" I am not a supporter of any political party and hence would like to point fingers to the word Obscene is where this guy got arrested. we have lots of idiots posting any crap against anyone on the internet just for the sake of fun. and this guy deserves the punishment which is right. If you want to post a message against someone... post it... but with ethics..

Wow, I wonder why media is all so quiet about stopping a person from exercising his freedom of speech, the right provided to all of us by Constitution of India.

May be all they Media People are quite because they want thousands of acre of land that congress is providing in Hyderabad, and also a licence for another channel.

I don't live in democracy, i have lost my freedom of speech because of greed of media people.

And yes i too hate Sonia Gandhi. Arrest ME. Destroy me and Burn the constitution of India while you are doing that.

Wonder why the media is keeping quiet about this. Is it because of the 'Sonia Gandhi' association? Isn't this a dangerous trend? By keeping quiet, aren't we moving into a totalitarian environment like China or Cuba? Will the police be as efficient in arresting people who comment on say, Narendra Modi? Does this mean that a person in power can ensure nothing negative is published about them by using the police as a deterrent? Aren't we helping politicians sweep all their crimes and anti-national acts under the carpet by allowing this to happen?

Why does someone get jailed for posting obscene comment on a politician, what does congress party do if it sees an obscene comment on some other girl ?

Shame on Google failed to protect the identity of the victim.
BJP should provide the best lawyers to save the right of this individual and many unknowns who are victimized every day by political rascals in India. Indian feudals and fascist still keep the week and helpless as the fodder of their criminal mindset. This should go.
