Apple's New MacBooks Come to India

Apple has launched its new MacBook family here in India just a week after it was launched in the US. Also launched was the LED Cinema Display.

The MacBooks start at Rs. 79,700 and go up to Rs. 1.60 lakh.

The LED Cinema Display features a 24-inch LED-backlit widescreen display with built-in iSight video camera, mic and speakers in a thin aluminum and glass enclosure. Designed for the new MacBook family, the LED Cinema Display includes an integrated MagSafe charger, three USB 2.0 ports and the new Mini DisplayPort, making it easy for MacBook users to quickly connect and power their notebooks as well as use their favorite peripherals.     


The LED Cinema Display will be available from November through Apple's authorized resellers for Rs. 60,900.

@anshuman: The lowest priced macbook is $999 plus taxes (7% or $70). And the current exchange rate makes it about 54k in INR. You can get one for that price in India if you look around for good deals (local retailers/resllers)

We have a idiotic tax structure ....In a developing country like india laptops are still considered a luxury and are heavily taxed. Also the US dollar price of 900 would attract a tax of clise to 120$ which wud be 6000 rupees !

what exact calculator is Apple using? i dont think those price are properly matching, i thought Macbook is at 900* should be around 50,000 according to current $-Rs ration .

What is with the absurd pricing apple? China is much close to india than usa, so you should be able to ship it in india at much lesser rate.
