Airtel, VISA to Sell iPhones on Installments
By: IANS   |   Sep 08, 2008

A few days after news of Vodafone trying to sell the iPhone 3G on installments came through, Airtel is using the same strategy.

Airtel in partnership with VISA, will offer easy finance options to VISA cardholders of four major banks for purchasing the Apple iPhone 3G.

"For consumers who aspire to own the iPhone 3G, VISA will offer easy financing options for all VISA cardholders of ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI Cards and Citibank," Bharti Airtel's chief marketing officer (mobile services) Sanjay Gupta said in a statement.

The handsets can be acquired on monthly instalments for periods ranging from nine to 24 months, depending on the bank and the option on offer.

iPhone 3G is priced at Rs. 31,000 for 8GB and Rs. 36,100 for the 16GB version and is available in two colours - black and white.

"Such initiatives will further widen the market of iPhone 3G in India", he added.

Now Run My Airtel, and Vodaphone, run for your money,
Google Android is here Model G1 will be there in marker with T1 mobile network in 1-2 weeks.
The phone will reach Indian shore with in next 2-3 months.

Also there are many Chines companies which can make very good hardware very cheap, but do not know much about software and user interface. now there will be chines companies making only hardware with prefabricated google android and then Indian , Russion , and US free coders making more and more applications

Now who will purchase your 7500 $ Iphone.

You must be kidding me bharti, one will be a bigger fool if he/she buys it on installments, because of a very high interest rest on emi's.iphone is not worth 30K+.Someone should consider N96.It is better than iphone 3g.You SUCKS airtel and vodafone..
Saud Hussain @ Sep 09, 2008
horrible phone, don't ever buy it, no bluetooth, no mms, no sms forwarding, only "advanced gprs" works on this, not realy worth the hype & definately not the price, I think apple wants to cover the losses of Apple Iphones from us Indians.
Chandresh @ Sep 09, 2008
airtel @ vodafone iphone ka price kam karo ......nahi to.....?
laddi @ Sep 09, 2008
iPhone is not worth at that price, what does Apple think we Indians are?? I would rather pay 20K + for N96 or the Omnia from Samsung, its a better deal. Both Airtel & Vodafone must get their act together !!!!! Apple sure did take them for a ride.
Reji @ Sep 09, 2008
Even the installment scheme on this is not gonna to work......
If u really want to sell iphones in india get the price tag below15K...
Nitesh @ Sep 09, 2008

Prepaid version of iPhone3G is gettin released this Sept16th in UK by O2. 8 gig version costs 27K in INR. Consider O2 is makin a profit of around 8K per phone, which means that Airtel or Vodafone is makin a profit of around 12 K per phone... which is against the statement by an Airtel Higher official who stated that "Its a no profit deal"... Is this not a daylight rob???

Totally, 655 iPhones have been sold in Airtel & Vodafone stores. I thought India is the land mass of fools where they would buy a phone which is 1/4 functionally usable for 3 times its actual global worth - but they have become cleverer by not buying iPhones!

I think the interest of people in iPhone has reduced significantly now...and with N96, Omnia, X1, LG 8MP coming, who wants an iPhone..
Gaurav @ Sep 08, 2008

S M @ Sep 08, 2008
As the time goes, the price wud have gone down to 20K, still one will be payin the EMI for 31K.... it feels really bad.... rather ll feel more guilty...
Jitender @ Sep 08, 2008
there is no point in buying it even on installments as u can easily get an unlocked one for half the price !!! and U CAN change the sim in those phones!!!!
