Sony Ericsson has launched its most awaited phone the Xperia X1 in India a good two weeks before the US launch.

The Xperia is the new premium sub-brand in Sony Ericsson's portfolio.

The X1 stands out with its arc-slider design, fully functional nine customisable panels, a 3-inch clear wide VGA display, a full QWERTY keyboard, 4-way key and optical joystick navigation and a 3.2 megapixel auto focus camera within a quality metal-finish body.

Running on Windows Mobile the Xperia X1 has the highest data transfer rate (HSDPA/HSUPA) and WiFi support.

"The Xperia X1 is the first product under Sony Ericsson's new premium sub-brand Xperia. Designed to meet consumers' needs for a converged entertainment and mobile web communication experience, the Xperia X1 is an exceptionally stylish handset, enhanced by the striking arc-slider design, encased in real stainless steel, to provide quality and durability. sunny behniwal @ Apr 21, 2009
some this is terribly wrong with SE.
sanjay @ Nov 22, 2008
These jokers holding the phone (see the picture) worth Rs 25K expecting fools to pay Rs 40-45K!!!!

All mentioned features are ordinary. E71 has almost everything except touch screen LCD & VGA display sold for almost Rs20K.

I feel P1i is best bargain which is almost similar may lack few features like VGA etc...but I can tell you that WM is a $hit OS where even you can not group your contacts. Keeps all your ring-tones in its ROM and creating memory problems etc...

They need to slash price by 50% to expect decent sale especially when they package 3.0 MP Camera.

Just like HTC, iPhone, Samsung premium models this will be a grand failure in India for sure.
Amar @ Nov 22, 2008
Hey you all who think that S.E.X1 is overpriced think again...
its not competing with the plasticky N-series but against the 8800 fashion phones and other luxury phones copmared to whom its a real winner, look at 8800 for Rs;53,000/- its a crap with s40 Symbian and now look at S.E.X1, get it....
if not not my fault...
PEACE LOL
Advait @ Nov 19, 2008
I m happy with P1i
Naushad @ Nov 18, 2008
Way too above the expectations!!! I have been waiting for this too long and "In the End"... I think this is a disappointment!!
Gopi Krishna @ Nov 18, 2008
over priced
Ashish Anand @ Nov 17, 2008
what happened SE fan club??.... why so shocked?.. u all considered SE to be the best(in their dreams)??.... looks like SE fans' got a shock of their life..... gud work SE for the betrayal u have given.... gud work!!... hats off!!.... my heartiest regard for this feat!!

so i guess its the road end for the SE as they have already started out churning out "heavy-duty" loses much like Motorola. Its market share is shrinking(like hell) with each passing day(and night)........ some1 ightly said>"every beginning has its end"..... so i guess its time SE pack off thier backs and sleep in the graves. thnx SE for all the best(i mean, the worst) of the mobile they have provided us(not me). it has been a long journey. hope we will see u(i mean, we will never) see u again!!. BYE BYE SE!!!...... R.I.P
Arnob @ Nov 17, 2008
I have dropped the idea of purchasing this phone as Pricing is totally wrong...i think this is gone be a BIG FLOP...in this price they should increase megapixel of camera, few more new features or scheme like two years free unlimited internet usage or good speakers quality. I think a new phone in X series will come soon with a competitive price & this phone will stay in there dealers windows only.
lion @ Nov 17, 2008
WTF?!!! You look at the phone and marvel wow what a phone... and THEN... You Look at the price and you definitely cant help looking twice wondering if some blind Mofo typed 44500 instead of 34500... Why even 35k should have been bang on target and wd have stripped other phones way outta the competition but I think THAT whoever priced this phone is either BLIND DEAF DUMB to his/her surroundings or wants SE to go down real bad... I curse that whosoever's bad intentions... Im a way over SE fan and to see some pure bullshit like this is plain sickening leave alone disheartening! Guess they thot India swindled out all US's money so they can buy it at the given price... and like people here are rolling in freaking bags of black money!!! Guess they want it only for the owners of SE not customers!
Michael @ Nov 17, 2008
what the hell ??
44.5 k
I mean that's ridiculous
SE please , u need some time off
or your dear customers will kick on your ass and choose motorola
Kunal @ Nov 17, 2008
The pricing beats me. 44.5k is way too much. Even the iphone which has all the features this has plus extra storage is 10-13k cheaper. So is the Omnia, and its a Windows phone. Nokia phones are even cheaper. The E71 has all the features this phone has, except touchscreen and screen size, but it costs 25k less. Surely the 2 extra features can't be that expensive. And the Nokia 5800 will apparently be available for 20k. So the pricing is all wrong.
But I guess this has been SE age old problem. When the phones are launched, the are way too expensive but the prices crash preet quickly. Also no one sells phones at MRP these days. It's always a few thousand less on street.

For the record, I am a SE fan. Currently own a W890. Cool phone.
Varun Atri @ Nov 16, 2008
i can just say ,a good phone with wrong priceing,i am a sony fan i have 800,910 &960 but this price is some were . . . .not acceptable and not purchasable
abdul @ Nov 15, 2008
After reading all the comments posted, se i think wont be even slightly thinking of changing their price tag of xperia. I think this phone is not made for common man at all . Its for premium class people. AND we should not forget everything comes at a price. Whenever a new feature or designed phone is launched which is uncommon in market in starting was heavily priced. Eg. N95 was launched above 30k(exp at that time) because it had those features that no other phone had at that time and nokia utilised those well making it a high class phone. Similar is case here all new design ,all types of navigation features, high class features everything in one compact beautiful, stylish phone.
Varun @ Nov 15, 2008
I am a big fan of SE but Rs. 45,000 for this phone is over the moon. Add Rs. 55,000 more and I can buy a Nano when it comes out.
Ajmal @ Nov 15, 2008
You guys should rename it XPENSIA... would be just right! Think about it!
Reg @ Nov 15, 2008
44,500??....thats it??..Thank you so much.....
I had exactly"Rs 44,000 Budget" at my disposal for a new "phone".. but.adding Rs 500 more to imeet 44,500.00 might just cross my limit...so i'll pass..
manraj @ Nov 15, 2008
dumb dumber dumbest
named @ Nov 15, 2008
44,500?? If the iphone has flopped, this too will, big time!!! We'll have to see how the foreign market prices it...
Akshay Vasudevan @ Nov 15, 2008
I wished to have a Windows Mobile Phone with Touch Screen+a Full Qwerty KeyPad n 3.2MP or Higher Camera ...
The Phones were HTC TyTN II ,HTCTouch Pro,Sony Ericsson
XPERIA X1(only TyTN was available that time.)
I was even Ready to buy HTC Diamond...but when I came to know it's launched in India as Non-3G and Airtel Bundled/Locked ..ahhh :(
Hope They won't do the same with HTC Pro.

Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Licensing Fees , High Powered(above 500Mgz) Processor ,More RAM and ROM
makes These High-End Windows Mobile Phones SO COSTLY.

At last I chose Nokia E90 -Symbian and Non-Touch Screen Phone
but with all the Other features...Full Qwerty Keypad ,Excellent 3.2MP Camera..a Flap Phone.
Nokia E90 in 35K ..It seems little over-priced too but it's ok for such a Powerful Device.
Hemant Patel @ Nov 15, 2008
Does it come with a Free LCD TV or a PSP ..
44K for a mobile phone???
I am a SE fan... but guess guys at SE havent hear
...a term called Gobal Financial Crisis..
doesnt make any sense to pay so much...
Tejash Doshi @ Nov 14, 2008
aahhhhahahaha . i love prices. i think the phone companies totally like this phones and just dont want anyone to own it.
Anshuman @ Nov 14, 2008
Pathetic pricing, to say the least! I'm gonna happily wait for Blackberry Storm to launch in India - iPhone, XPeria....all are highly overpriced. Let's hope Blackberry will be successful in striking a deal with Airtel / Vodafone and offer the handset at subsidized rates :)
Anurag @ Nov 14, 2008
DUDE I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gonna BUY THIS PHONE MAN........44.5k ... IS NOthing MAN....i am richer than Bill gates.. they shuld have kept the price around 50k+ i mean common .. who wouldnt buy this awsemoust piece of machinary rite???
Rahul Mehra @ Nov 14, 2008
44k is sony gone mad..we will get a dell laptop for this price
ir a samsung innov8
price shud be below 32k
prashant @ Nov 14, 2008
I think SE is not reading market analysis well. After the iPhone debacle in the Indian market and Nokia launching the N96 for under 40k & Samsung, thier Omnia for around 36k, SE should have gone at a price range of 35 to 32ks for this phone. There is expectation this price will eventually drop, but for SE, it is poor marketing. I do not know, but someone at SE is really a stumborn Dumbass, he should really go through all SE forums abuzz with angry tirades at the stupid market ploys of SE. Really Sad for one of the finest handset makers (err..earstwhile)...
JP Sinha @ Nov 14, 2008
MAMUUU YEH INDIA HAI PAISA LOG BAHUT LUTATE HAI PAR SAHI JAGAH PE 44K WHAT A NONSENSE WE WILL GO FOR A LENOVO NOTE BOOK SORRY SE PEOPLE THIS TIME YOU DISIPOINTED US BETTER LUCK NXT TIME
SACHIN @ Nov 14, 2008
@arnob(you do seem like a knob...)

Nseries and Xperia......seriously......you are a nutter man.....you gotta agree with the point saurav makes about N95......32000 at that time was way overpriced.....

and i aint no SE fanboy....my last phone was N82 and i recently got the E71 yesterday as i got to know about the price of Xperia.... as of now of all the phones available i'd love to own Xperia but 44500 took me aways from it and got a sexy E71 instead.....

and i dont think the price will affect XPERIA sales as i belive XPERIA to be a flaunt symbol and also a niche product... waiting for the next set of phones in the X series from SE.....
Prathamesh @ Nov 14, 2008
I can't believe these mobile co's expect people to buy a [hone for 44,500???
first we had samsung with two models priced at 30,000+ and now this....
who has so much money.........just to buy a phone? why not buy a bike, laptop, lcd tv etc etc....

Get real dudes we are talking phones here...........
legendkiller @ Nov 14, 2008
The phone is amazing and much better than any Nokia phone... but this stupid pricing is going to seriously hamper its sales.
peeyush pandey @ Nov 14, 2008
@ saurav(looks like a supporter of SE)

well...... N95 had 5 Megapixel camera for Rs.32000..... and this supid phone has just 3.2 megapixel, but priced 44,500!!.....whatz ur reply on this??....

plz don't compare n95 with xperia....... it stands nowhere near it..... i doubt whether it can even stand near the N series(condition apply)!!
Arnob @ Nov 14, 2008
this phone is awesome. people talking abt price should know that the 1st edition N95 was sold at a price of 32000 when it was released which is now just 20k.
Sauarv @ Nov 14, 2008
45 thousand! what crap!!!! we could go for a lap top for this cost!!!! non-sense!!!!!
SE Hatter @ Nov 14, 2008
Disappointed... was waiting for this to launch for long...Think SE has got its pricing all messed up , 45K is not worth it, 30K max ..
Vinod Menon @ Nov 14, 2008
Seems! HTC Touch-Pro is better comparing to this phone .... Price it to high ....
Nag @ Nov 14, 2008
All electronic companies in India these days are launching their products thinking "Indians are Ambani's". You should launch the product at the right price with 3.2 MP camera & no 8 or 16 GB space priced at 45 grand. Now the GM of SE can afford one. But can everyone. Another flop phone coming your way after being over hyped & delayed.
Shreyas @ Nov 14, 2008
i was totally shocked on seeing its hefty price.how did u ppl think 2 release it in india with dat price tag???? ...itz better 2 wait till the release of nokia 5800 xpress muzik..
Ajay Babu Konatham @ Nov 14, 2008
45 K!!!!!....for tat THING>>>>> i mean 30-35 MAXIMUM....i mean common...a 3.2 mp cam.........urrgh...i tot i wud be the perfect phn...but the prices has killed it.....!!!....dumass SE
jjdb @ Nov 14, 2008
The pricing is all wrong.

Yes there are SE fanboys.

But even they will find this a hard pill to swallow.

Come on !! SE !!!! WAKE UP.

After the SE K750i I never saw a phone that could truly be called a good package.

Please do something about it, or Nokia and Samsung will walk all over your market share or what you claim to have of it.
Aneesh Raghavan @ Nov 14, 2008
i m waiting for this phone but the price is not a practical
it should not be more than 30k
as soon as this comes at a price of 30k than it will be in my pocket
kapil bhasin @ Nov 14, 2008
Go for HTC pro. you can get all the features of xperia at half of the price.
a @ Nov 14, 2008
a stupid phone for 45K....
iPhone with its huge brand name and expectations managed to sell just 4000 units.
I bet this phone will not even cross 500 units..
hi @ Nov 14, 2008
44k ?????? Absolute joke.
I have been waiting for this phone for long but I am disappointed with the price tag. I will prefer to wait for price fall.
With this price tag , this gonna go IPhone way. Less than 4000 Iphones are sold in India till now.

Wake up guys , do sensible pricing.
M Hasan @ Nov 14, 2008
a very hefty price tag. may b it will cum some months later

the arc slider looks gr8 in the promo video
kneo @ Nov 14, 2008
45k for a 3.2 MP camera phone?!!!! WHO are they kidding?
