Xperia Launch Date Further Delayed
By: Shayne Rana   |   Aug 30, 2008

The latest scoop, according to reports says that Sony Ericsson’s elusive handset, the Xperia X1, as now been further delayed. This is getting rather annoying as the handset just doesn’t seem to be making any headway. This looks like it is some sort of gimmick the company has cooked up to flash the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional handset at as many events as possible without making a proper statement as to when it will officially launch. It was showcased at SE's booth at this year's IFA as well.

The last news we heard was that the handset was due to be out a while back. Nothing happened of course, and it was delayed till the latter half of the year. October was the speculation. Now it seems that has been further delayed to the end of the year. December or maybe even January of 2009. All I have to say is, if the company is taking so much time to make sure the handset is properly prepped and glitch-free for a launch, this had better be one heck of a mobile phone. iPhone 3G and N96, look out!

Thank you for the info dude..I seriously had no clue about it.I did hear that in the U.S market, their phone sales have gone down but didn't know that they wanted to split...its really sad though..Thanks again man...

Ahh damn...this is such a awesome phone..SE is losing the plot..n96 will take away the market share....It will be too late then...No dude Sony & Ericson are not parting ways...where did u get this info from??

SE has become very unreliable. SE has made it a habit to postpone many handsets. I wonder when will C905 finally make it.

Is it true Sony and Ericsson are parting ways?

Same story as it did with P990i release. Launch was rescheduled for P990i few times before it finally arrived with lots of bugs, then it became a dud!!!

We are also hearing that Sony is walking-off with Ericsson partnership and this may also add fuel to fire.

Looks like SE as a brand is heading towards closure in the near future and it may not be such a good idea to invest heaviliy especially when there are lots of uncertainities around!!

Personally, I have bought imate 9502 for $900 from US but iMate is heading for closure and all their equipments will become useless in a few months from now.

Beware of such runaway companies!
