@ak_rulz: and by "free" I did not just mean "free as in beer" but also "free as in freedom". Freedom to use, modify and distribute!
linux fan @ Oct 24, 2009
Some ppl just copy and paste the content , without going through what they are writing ! Thats why 40% less for India !
Tech-Tweak @ Oct 24, 2009
@Greed: If you feel MS is so good, why worry about any criticisms? You are anyways not arguing on the basis of merits. And even you have atleas agreed that it is only the 'Best "MS" OS till'. Better than Vista doesn't mean its good. I feel the urge to mention Ubuntu Linux here because most Windows users are not using Windows by choice but because of ignorance of alternatives.
@ak_rulz: installing binaries and compiling binaries is just some FUD created by Microsoft. 99% of the times, installing a program is just one click process. May be you have not even tried any latest Linux os yet. Even though there are few paid versions of Linux, they are mostly business oriented. And as I mentioned, Ubuntu Linux even deliver the CD to your doorstep for free. And it still is stable and well tested.
linux fan @ Oct 24, 2009
@linux_fan
so many linux distributions, and so are their installation binaries different. OR u compile the source code (time taking ang geekish). Linux isnt user friendly.

By the way nothing is free in the world.

RHEL is paid. Mandriva Powrpack is paid. All premium linux products are paid. And whatever experimental codes i.e. alpha codes to be used in paid product is named final in free linux distributions
ak_rulz @ Oct 24, 2009
@linux fan: If linux is so good why the hell are you lurking around in an article that tells about the pricing of windows 7..... Go dig your head into your linux SHELL .... Nobody is stopping NOR does anyone care......

And yeah I have been using the RTM of Windows 7 for the past month... must say it is definitely a huge improvement over Vista.... Best MS OS till now....
Greed @ Oct 23, 2009
@ak_rulz
So windows users pay 6 to 12 grands for not so very different software, and even after paying that, you don't own it, just agreeing to use it! Its still MS's property, you cannot use it on more than agreed number of computers, change it according to your needs. When you have a CD of Ubuntu, you own it and can use it to install on any number of computer and pass it on to your friends and family!

@Venu Vedam
You dont need to be a techie to get some it working. One can just ask on the Ubuntu support forums, and the people are friendly enough to help you out. In any case, there are hardware compatibility issues even with Windows. It is reported that Win7 is not connecting to internet on some computers. These issues are because hardware vendors have not provided proper drivers.
linux fan @ Oct 23, 2009
@linux_fan,

I installed Ubuntu 9.1 on my Dell Studio 17 two days ago. My trackpad doesn't work and the OS does not recognize my sound card. I've googled for a solution but there seem to be none.

Just to tell you that Ubuntu is still not a good enough replacement for the ordinary user. If you are a techie, you can tinker around with the settings and the apt-get repository and make it work.

@m2uk550

All versions of Windows are shipped with both 32 bit and 64 bit flavors. It is up to you to choose the flavor.
Venu Vedam @ Oct 23, 2009
Did you all check the launch party on 22 in america where they show a normal laptop controlling 16 media devices at once with 54% of processor use .TV, Photo , Music all from onee standard PC

Think again it is BEST OS TILL DATE WITH FUTURE VISION I WILL BUT GENUINE VERSION

WINDOWS & ROCKS! AND BLOWS OUR MIND
Mayank Ralhan @ Oct 23, 2009
wowow wait a sec window 7 ultimate 32 and 64 bit for 11.799 or it just 32 bit for 11.799
m2uk550 @ Oct 23, 2009
linux and other operating systems are as buggy as windows. I can also say that they are more buggy than Windows. Since windows is used in more than 90% of world computers, even a small error gets magnified. Microsoft people are very adept and quick in resolving these issues. I have used linux (ubuntu, fedora, mandriva, RHEL) and it doesnt come at par with windows. Ubuntu gets often updated now and then with latest security fixes and bug fixes.

After all to err is human.
ak_rulz @ Oct 23, 2009
Prices are affordable but can u please tell me is there any upgradation offer from Vista to Windos7. I have recently purchased a lenovo PC for my office.
Thanks & Regards

Forget Windows, can't wait for the latest version of Ubuntu Linux due for release this weekend. Why pay for a buggy and virus prone software when one can get Ubuntu CDs shipped to their doorstep for free. Ubuntu has a great, easy user interface and also looks good. Whats more, it can even run fast enough on older machines (no need to buy that additional RAM or faster processor). I would pity someone who goes ahead and buys Windows and even more for getting a pirated copy.
linux fan @ Oct 23, 2009
Well ! Window 7 has been designed carefully with previous hotfixes of VISTA & XP & no issue of performance & compatibility. Just rise of star from MICROSOFT after a decade.

Lastly " BEAUTY WITH BRAIN "
SPEED IS FASTER THAN XP & VISTA along with 700 new feature for futuristic up coming technology ready !
kumar rohit @ Oct 23, 2009
I can't believe guys here are even thinking of getting this piece of s**t! I mean, with virus and all, and apart from that, you need to shell out more for an anti-virus, office suite, and what not. Not to mention the hardware upgrade that this bloated software needs. Haven't anybody heard of Ubuntu Linux? Its 100% free, and they even ship the CDs to your door steps for no cost at all. It definitely looks a lot better than any Windows and has a great user interface. Go check it!
linux fan @ Oct 23, 2009
