Windows Vista Taking its Toll on Users

Yes! Users and sellers have given a big boo to all the flavors of the latest operating system from Microsoft - Windows Vista. After the initial euphoria around it, their expensive piece of advice (read caution) is - ‘Stick to XP’!

Janak Mehta, Project Manager with, Adweb Tech Trade has been using Vista for the past four months now, as his notebook was bundled with the Windows Vista Professional Edition. He says, “It has been crashing ever since I have been on it and keeps asking silly questions, consuming my time.” Janak who is well-versed with programming and security related issues further said, “Agreed, it’s a highly secured OS, and might help novice users, but I will certainly not recommend this to my friends who know how to secure data and employ high-end applications.” He found that several of his programs and applications were not Vista compatible and had to continuously get online updates to move ahead in his projects.

It’s been six months since the most hyped OS from the global software giant was launched in India and most people we spoke to, have given their final verdict - A vehement No! to its Starter Edition, Professional, Premium or any edition you name.

Some people can't accept change, and immediately come to the conclusion that Vista sucks.

Some applications don't work because the vendor hasn't released an update, and it's because Vista sucks.

People don't understand how to configure it and Vista sucks.

Someone has a misguided, uninformed opinion and Vista sucks.

Well like Mr. Mehta, i too have Windows Vista Ultimate Edition preinstalled on my HP9312TX notebook, unfortunately i would vehemently disagree with the reviewer and Mr. Mehta.

It's not that i love microsoft, heck i'am all for a world with free apps (go Google!!), but i do believe that Vista is an OS that is a sight to behold. The updates are seemless, it has NEVER crashed, has prevented innumerable attacks on IE7 (thanks to the prebundled Norton Security center) and windows defender has stood me in good stead.

If you have been used to using legacy DOS/ Win95/ Me applications, those apps just will not work (well, not easily!) and blocked virus/trojans in pirated apps will prevent installations of those software!

It is a class act. Go Vista!

There's no Professional Edition of Vista. Don't use research, please! otherwise you'd be posting quality news and articles and that's just not the way Tech2 does the work!

also, Mr.Janak, you're a retard, you can easily disable UAC by going to User Control Panel. well-versed with programming and security my ass! UAC is targeted at novice users and not "Security Experts" like Mr.Janak; The fact that you're complaining about it just makes me laugh. OEMs don't bundle Vista if the hardware isn't supported, seeing as you're too dumb to understand and disable UAC, the hardware problems are probably your fault. Please don't use Vista (and Computers and Internet if possible) as you're insulting the whole user base and Microsoft. and I'm using Vista x64 and it works like a charm.

It would be better if notebook companies kept on giving xp. vista is very iritating. Most of the softwares which are most commonly used have been rendered useless due to lack of appropriate patches.

very true i've also uninstalled vista from my Vaio and installed Win XP sp2 instead.right now to me vista is not usable let's wait for sp1(which is scheduled for q1 2008 until then i will continue to use win xp sp2 & then i will install vista from recovery partition & migrate to vista.vista also asks silly questions(among other software incompatibilities) about whether to execute a command (disabling it may create more problems) although this can be helpful if the user does not have any knowledge about the os & how to make the computer more secure by installing firewalls, patches etc. but for most of the users this can drive them crazy.Bottom line : M$ is forcing users to use vista bit early & that's bad thing to do.Users want performance not an eye candy headache.

I have Vista Ultimate on my HP Laptop..it actually sucks.
The Worst Part is Microsoft India Charges Rs700 per Support Question on Vista....You Heard it Right 700 Bucks!!!...All beacuse I have an Original Software!!! Stick to XP folks.... I have Core 2 Dua Notebook with 1GB RAM & 160GB HDD and NVIDIA Card...it takes approx 5 minutes for Vista to Load...and @ mins to Shut down!!!

Yes, Vista is unstable and bloated.

Even lower quality than Windows 95.
