It's a known fact that the Xbox 360 isn't doing stellar business in Japan; statistics show that Microsoft’s next generation console has only managed to sell only 158,000 units in Japan since its release last year, against nearly 5 million units sold worldwide in the same time line.
Capcom’s Dead Rising did manage to boost sales a bit, and their upcoming sci-fi shooter Lost Planet may improve things further on, but Microsoft have formulated a strategy that may enable them to boost sales in the form of a external high-definition DVD player that'll be available for the console this November.
At the recent Tokyo Game Show held in Japan, Vice President Peter Moore announced this add on that'll cost 19,800 yen (Rs 10,000 approximately) bringing the combined cost of the basic Xbox 360 and the HD-DVD player to nearly the same price as that of the PlayStation 3 in Japan.
