For an RTS fan, Supreme Commander is probably amongst the most awaited games of 2007. The game has being developed by Gas Powered Games, under the expert command of Chris Taylor. Who is Chris Taylor you ask? Remember Total Annihilation? Although it was no Starcraft, the game was very well made and served as a good example of how RTS games should be made. So will Chris do a good job with Supreme Commander too? Let’s take a look at what the game is all about, and find out…
The game’s story kicks off with scientists tinkering with Quantum tunneling, something that’s been made possible thanks to major advances in quantum science. Using these quantum tunnels (which by the way required a crapload of energy), humans find a way to transport themselves over great distances as a result of which they’re able to colonize hundreds of galaxies scattered across the universe and it’s at this point in the year (2819 to be precise) when the Infinite War begins. The Earth’s government loses control of the colonies, and civilization moves into a state of anarchy. Driven by the lure of power, powerful individuals called Supreme Commander spawn armies of war-bred robots to "stick it to the man" with blatant disregard for their fellow humans and in doing so, they place the human colonies in a state of utter chaos and turmoil.
