If you're looking for an ultra compact that's both low on body fat and on the price tag, the Fujifilm A100 should be right up your alley.
This little critter comes with a petite frame of 92 x 61 x 22 millimeters and weighs a mere 124 grams, placing it amongst the smallest and lightest of light weight cameras out there. The camera features a smooth silver (or black) finish plastic exterior, that's not the most appeasing looking on the block, but it doesn't lose points on portability.
Head to toe, the camera's covered with smooth edges so that it's easy to carry around in your pocket, with absolutely no jutting buttons or edges. There's a gray line that passes along the camera's profile, trying to make it aesthetically pleasing and succeeding only partially. The A100 isn't the best looking camera on the block, and there's no denying that.
The shutter button's placed topside, along with a small power button that's positioned so that it doesn't get pressed accidentally while in your pocket. The facing side of the camera has a two-way zoom toggle on top, followed by a display/back and preview button below it. The navigation pad nests below it, with shortcuts for Deleting pictures, Flash configuration, self-timer and Macro mode programmed on a directional key each.
Beside the buttons is a 2.7-inch LCD screen - your standard fare 230,000 pixel type, that performs reasonably well. Overall, the buttons and entire frame of camera looks and feels cheap and flimsy; but while the camera isn't the best looking out there, it wins points for portability and simple design that works well for it.
