Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T90
By: Nikhil Singh   |   May 18, 2009
  • 2.5
Light weight / slim form
Smile/face detection works really well
No manual ISO control
Too few modes
Terrible interface

If you're looking for a slim ultra compact, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T90 certainly fits the bill. If you're looking for a feature rich camera however, you might be disappointed.

Weighing in at just 148 grams, and with stats like these - 94 x 57 x 15 millimeter, the DSC-T90 is undoubtedly scrawny. The camera features a silver brush metal slider that moves top to bottom to sheath and unsheath its lens. The rest of the body is made of silver color plastic which feels and looks slightly cheap.

The top part of this anorexic camera features the zoom toggle to the extreme right. The toggle's extremely small and really annoying to use since its range of motion is very small, making it rather painful for those with big, clumsy fingers. The shutter and power buttons sit besides it.

On the top most part of the camera's facing side sits a preview button. Below it is a 3-inch LCD touch-screen with a rather thin plastic coating. Every time you touch the touchscreen, you get pretty huge LCD smudges, making you almost feel guilty for touching it. The screen could have been slightly thicker to make it less fragile.

Overall, the T90 is decent looking, but features a shabby LCD touchscreen and an inconvenient zoom toggle.

I own this camera, just bought it yesterday...
And did my own sort of reviews on it.
I believe all the reviews about T90 are rather misleading and biased. It works great, Picture quality is very Good for normal use. There's not a single thing which I found bad about it.
So people who are making their minds to buy this cam, should go for it. Who cares about the reviews, if the product works well.
And if you are too concerned about having Professional quality Photographs, then better you go with a good DSLR camera, rather than point and shoot camera.
The Latest Price is 17800/- in Mumbai.

I'd rather disagree with the grain matter you pionted above.
I really like the camera. Although it does not have a well sort out touch screen. It is very fragile . I droped it by mistake which caused the screen to malfunction and had to pay a huge sum of Rs 7712 (unbearable)
But that taught me a lesson to keep the camera more carefully.
I'm not totally satisfied with your suggestion it has more to it, like it can modify the image to make it funny or make it look cool !
and its 12mp resolution is awesome
I recommend this camera to everyone who can afford it and those who love photography.

I was considering buying this coz of the HD recording and slim body... But I ended up buying Olympus u9000 due to it's 10X zoom :)

Fujifilm F200EXR :)
rite now nothing beats its image quality..works best in low light in its category..
Its strange Tech2 gave only 3.5 star in its review
while all over the world the cam got avg of 4.5 stars..
Babba @ May 19, 2009
This has a HD recording, na? And thats the main feature of the camera, which gives this price tag.
Shaheen @ May 18, 2009
How about adding screenshot of the interface as well rather than simply saying it has terrible interface...........
