Prototype

Over the top satisfying gameplay
Super powers are a blast
Fluid Parkour system
The best stress buster of a game in recent times
Provides hours of gameplay via single player missions and side quests
Doesn't look too hot
Can get a bit tough
Plot is pretty generic

Prototype is awesome. Yes it can get ridiculously tough and a bit repetitive along the way but it’s one of the most cathartic gaming experiences I’ve had in recent times. I mean which game out there lets you surf on human bodies or elbow slam a tank to oblivion or even better lift up a tank and throw it into a chopper. Yeah, think about that!
Prototype can get ridiculously tough and a bit repetitive along the way but it’s one of the most cathartic gaming experiences I’ve had in recent times.
If for some weird reason the paragraph above hasn’t convinced you to jump out of your window and pick up the game yet, step this way for the entire review.

In Prototype you’ll step into the boots of Alex Mercer a regular New Yorker who happens to get infected with a deadly virus that grants him killer (pun intended) super powers. Not that he doesn’t appreciate them but it turns out he needs to find out more about his past and in doing so he doesn’t mind killing off a few hundred thousand people. Simultaneously that very same virus somehow gets leaked into the city gradually infecting all its citizens transforming them into mindless, blood thirsty mutants. Of course they all don’t become as bad-ass as you or this would be one insanely tough game.

Prototype’s USP - besides the gratuitous violence - are the shape shifting abilities Alex has access to. Throughout the game you’ll acquire various powers and upgrades that mutate your hands to become variations of claws, whips, swords, hammers etc. The very first mission (that doubles up as a tutorial) grants you all these powers at once giving you a small taste of the mayhem to come. In a matter of minutes these powers get taken away from you but you’ll slowly re-acquire them during the course of the game.

Thanks a lot Avinash,
I have been following tech2 since the day the site came into existence and now I am a fan (not a harcore fan but its the only tech site i visit daily) of it. Great reviews, contests, videos, downloads, etc. (cant name all !).

This is the first time someone (from tech2) has replied to my comment. I'll definately go for Prototype now for the reason you gave (stressbuster) as I get stressed out during my exam preparations.

Thanks Again ,
Tech2 Rocks !!

Its one of the most awaited game of the year 2009.But also a bit disappointment .In this game u play a character namely Alex Mercer
who is infected with a virus which has given him many super powers like super speed, running on walls, power of lifting choppers ,many weapons and most important becoming any other human just by consuming him.because of all these powers you will find the game interesting earlier .
Talking about the storyline its OK not so great and not so boring but it has lots of twists and lots of suspense .Alex has lost his memory after being infected and he wants to know who is behind all this just to punish him .after some time he realizes that virus is infecting and killing all the city and he decides to stop it.
There are lot of things to be unlocked and updated which m

ITS TOOOOOOO EASY
one of the easiest game i have played
even in hard mode its very easy
sahil @ Jul 11, 2009
Sorry about not including the platforms the game was available on. I usually do it in all my reviews; forgot about it this time.

@Udit

I personally would go in for Prototype because it's mindless, gratituous violence at best. Plus the sheer amount of powers you have access to is intoxicating. But then again, that's just me.
Avinash Bali @ Jul 11, 2009
Could anyone (anyone including tech2) tell me whether inFamous is better or Prototype. I need to buy one (just one).
I havent been able to decide this for 2 weeks now.
Udit @ Jul 11, 2009
But i guess it might be coz its available on all the major platforms viz Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. After all Tech 2 does sort its gaming reviews out in categories such as PC, PS3. etc
Siddhant Saxena @ Jul 11, 2009
No mention of platform(s)! Now thats plain stupid! Am sorry avinash but thats how it is.

Granted serious gamers should and would already know the platform but not mentioning it takes away a good chunk of point from the review score.

And anyway, not very satisfied with the quality of the review. But do agree about the OTT aspect of the game being so liberating.
Siddhant Saxena @ Jul 11, 2009
they never mentioned it there n please read the name right
ITS 'ANIRUDHA' n not ANURADHA so tht u can call me ANU
Dr. Anirudha @ Jul 10, 2009

kickass18 @ Jul 10, 2009
Hey who will tell us the platform? You guys never tell the platform. And you call yourself a tech website. Platform should be the first thing to be mentioned. Indians..
Abhinav @ Jul 10, 2009
Avinash, you have done justice to this game by writing such an exploding and raw review. If any of you havent already played this game on PC or an XBOX360, I strongly suggest you do it because lets face it, why wouldnt anybody want to play a game that lets you kill whomever you want, however you want and disappear from the scene like you werent even there. Have finished it twice already, yeah its that good.
Abhinav @ Jul 10, 2009
People this is the best game I have played so far, and in the review I read that it can be tough?.. man thats not toughness its just the Boss rounds than need some extra skill to be applied, would you like to play a game that is really easy?..No one wants to....This is a fantastic game, I am not totally satisfied with the review. The person who has written this is the one who want to takes these games easy....Man without obstacles you won't enjoy anything, NOW DON'T WASTE TIME, JUST GO AND BUY IT. I AM SURE YOU WILL ENJOY PLAYING IT
Siddharth @ Jul 10, 2009
boooooring game
Aritra @ Jul 10, 2009
