We reviewed Samsung's Series 5 and Series 6 LCD TVs recently, and now it's time to look at a candidate from Series 4. The model currently sitting in the Tech2.0 AV room is the LA 32A450, an affordable entry-level job that will appeal to the budget-conscious (that's most of us). As it’s begun to make a wave of sorts in the market, let’s take a closer look...

Design and Features
This is a no-frills model, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The simple, high-gloss black bezel is a fingerprint trap, but looks quite good. The surface of the bezel is slightly convex, though it’s not an individual design element. The bottom panel is arched a bit, with a thick transparent plastic rim kissing its entire border. This is only on the bottom panel, which also has a tiny red LED on the right end.

The back is plain enough, with only a small connection window. There are 3 HDMI terminals, along with a PC (VGA) in and a couple of component and composite ins. There is a side panel too with one of the three HDMI terminals and a composite AV input. There is no USB input and all that jazz, but I don’t care much for those.

The contrast ratio is 10,000:1 and the response time is 6ms. The 81cm (32 inch) panel is Samsung’s popular SPVA LCD with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It’s got picture-in-picture, in-built audio speaker with 20W output, and a brightness of 450 cd/m2. This model does not come with 100Hz artificial frame rate, as it’s a mid-range model.

Recently I bought 26" Samsung LCD TV, but after connecting my sony PS, the picture is coming as black & white, whereas if it was connected with normal LRT TV i.e.old TV it is working properly.
Kindly advice.

Hi,..could you pls tell me what was the problem you found with this model, as i am planning to buy one ..thx

I bought this TV in Nov08. And soon I found problem in the TV. Luckily I was using LG LCD earlier and hence I could immediately see the difference in picture quality and resolution. I complained to Samsung and after much deliberation they admitted that the entire lot is defective. They have rectified in production of Dec 08. So whoever is buying Samsung LCD ensure that they get December batch production. BTW, Samsung agreed to buy back my TV. So I am happy with they consumer-friendly approach.

Thanks Samsung for the replacement else I would have felt cheated.

Guys I purchased LG 32 " four months back for 40 k from croma. i got a good bargain because sonay and samsung were selling at 45 k at that time. it is really surprising to see 32 " selling at 50 k. Infact its better to go for full HD which has come down to 60 70 k range. I am happy with LG. Sony i think is the most over priced. Toshiba and panasonic are pathetic, they dont belong to this era the picture quality is too bad
uday @ Oct 07, 2008
Its nothing compared with the 5 series which is full HD and if u can spend more u can check LG jazz
Rajat @ Oct 07, 2008

shekhar @ Oct 07, 2008

Sajeed @ Oct 07, 2008
I've demoed this TV at Croma and it looks quite good, i suspect the previous posts are just trollers.
Sajeed @ Oct 07, 2008
all new LCDs released this year cost 50K, so i think this TV is quite affordable at 44K, Mr Rahul.

Please review Samsung 40" 5 series LCD tv..
Mandar @ Oct 06, 2008
this tv sells for 36000 rs INR..and is crap compared to series 5 or 6.

Better buy a Toshiba at 38k INR
suhail kapoor @ Oct 06, 2008
This LCD suks big time and for those who posted this article a 5 series 32 full HD costs 45k
Rajat @ Oct 06, 2008
44k is an affordable figure! I did not know that. thanks for the info!

and other 32 inchers cost 50 k. what a huge difference. 44k is 12% less thank 50k.
for every product, there will be a difference of approx 10% between different brands.
that does not make one brand affordable and another EXPENSIVE

is this a site on unique ideas with humor thrown in!

what a waste of time.
