Motorola KRZR K1

Great looking, solid feel
Slim, not heavy
Good loudspeaker quality
USB Charging and mass storage
Not too different from the RAZR
Average quality camera

It’s upto you how you pronounce it—'crazer', 'K-RAZR' or 'kerzer'—but Motorola’s KRZR K1 doesn’t jump out at you like the RAZR did once upon a time. Perhaps it’s because slim and shiny phones are no longer a novelty. Or perhaps it’s because the KRZR is just not different enough from the RAZR to warrant it’s own series.

Design
Most simply, the KRZR is a narrow and thick version of the RAZR. My first experience (which still holds true) was that the RAZR was a little too wide. That has been solved with the KRZR, but while the phone is narrow, it’s also a bit longer. This combination of narrowness and length made me—and a lot of other people in the office—cringe the first time we looked at it. But after having used it for more than a week, I’ve begun to like it. A lot.

The KRZR has a shiny, glossy, mirror-finish on the top, unlike the brushed metal finish on the RAZR. The rear of the phone feels velvety or at least rubber-coated. On the inside, the keypad is also in the same indigo-purple color that the rest of the phone is in, and it has the same spiral design that the RAZR had, only its finer. The keys offer the same kind of tactile feedback as the RAZR. The KRZR doesn’t have the middle soft key like the V3i does—the center click of the navigation pad doubles up for it’s absence, but also causes a few problems (see UI section).

Even the display on the KRZR is a 176x220 resolution, 256k color TFT, which is the same as the RAZR. But since the phone is smaller, the display looks a little better, higher resolution, since the pixels are smaller and closer together. The secondary display is also 96x80, which shines out from under the mirror finish of the top.

I bought the "fire" K1m from verizon eight months ago and just like every other cell I've gotten from Verizon it isn't holding a charge for more than 8 hours with no calls or usage. When I first got it one full charge would last three days. Aside from the charge issue and constant fingerprint/smudge clean up it's a sharp phone with all the amenities I wanted.

Switched from a Samsung to Motorola because of the Moto reputation. Very disappointed.

are they like baby razor ???

I'm on my 2nd K1m from Verizon and I'm going to return it soon in exchange for a completely different model. My first Krzr stopped keeping a charge after less than a month, and now a mere 4 months later, my 2nd Krzr has begun exhibiting the same behavior. I'm really ticked off. This is the most unreliable cell phone I've ever had. I thought Motorola was a good brand....I thought wrong. I'm disappointed and not buying one of these again. I just hope Verizon doesn't give me any lip service when I go back and demand a different phone for no charge, as well as accessories.

I bought my phone about 6 months ago. The phone will not hold a charge, when I charge it, it says the charge is complete but after 1 use (about 5 min) the phone goes dead. Sometimes the phone will not work at all, it just flashes back & forth from a black & white screen. I've been using cell phones since they first came out and this is the worst one I have ever had.

well, i think that this phone is great for all ages and although ists a bit expensive, its worth it because you can have style, elegance, and quiality with this phone

My phone is 6 months old and the buttons are falling off and it will not hold a charge. I hate it !! I take care of my phone , have had a cell phone since 98 and never seen such a poorly made phone.
Kristin @ Nov 20, 2007
Awful! The sound quality sounds like someone is calling with a dishrag
over their phone! Loud, but too muffled. I'm glad I'm able to return this phone today. I'd never want another Motorola.

Jenna @ Jun 25, 2007
great looking phone but a couple of complaints. there is no setting for vibrate AND ring at same time and the audibility of calls is ridiculously low. I have to put everyone on speakerphone. the other party's can hear me fine but I can barely hear them. My coworkers agree with me that there is a problem with it. I thought i was going deaf before i had friends validate my complaint.

Hoo nice phone how match cast
satya @ Dec 07, 2006
The phone is good but the concept is not. Razr became a style statement which the krzr will not carry. Moto ming on the other hand (though in a different price bracket) is something revolutionary just like the razr. The razr had taken everyone by surprise by its design, the krzr on the other hand is like yeah ok, we have already seen this earlier but with a few more tweaks.
