Antec Skeleton

250mm fan
Looks
Expensive
Not easy to setup

Skeleton. What better name could anyone give this open air PC case? The Antec Skeleton is absolute innovation at its best. It not only looks stunning but also has a rock solid build quality. Come to think of it, the Skeleton is definitely not aimed at lesser mortals but is instead aimed towards enthusiasts who simply cannot keep their hands off the rig.

Another aspect that will grab the viewer’s attention is its massive 250mm fan that’s elegantly placed above the case. This huge fan does wonders at keeping your core components such as the graphics card, RAM, CPU as well as the overall motherboard cool. You’ll also find two switches beside the fan through which you can adjust the fan speed and switch between various colors that are displayed by the LEDs.

Towards the front of the case you will find a pair of USB ports, one Firewire port, one eSATA port, headphone/microphone jacks along with the usual power and reset buttons. Towards the rear you will find a transparent plastic supporter that allows you to screw in add-on cards such as the graphics card, sound or even your LAN card. However if the need is to install large graphics cards the supporter will need to be taken off and then screwed back once the required cards are installed.

At first sight installation might seem simple but actually it requires a lot of patience to put things together. Nevertheless, the installation of motherboard and other components is easy since the tray slides out. The problem starts when things need to get connected. Since the space in-between is almost negligible, routing wires can be extremely annoying but pays off once things are in place. Drives slide in with ease but with no locking system in place the drives will need to be screwed on.

An additional fan is also provided that allow you to cool the hard drives since they don’t receive sufficient cooling from the large 250mm fan. The Skeleton also comes with a total of four hard drive brackets that allow you to hang additional drives on the sides.

The Antec Skeleton is aimed at enthusiasts and is most certainly built that way.

It costs Rs. 11,500 and is available with Tirupati Enterprises.

Antec Skeleton has been out for quite some time now. I am surprised to see a review of this case so late. The case is a masterpiece, though and i'd love to have it.
