SanDisk Sansa e260

Great sound quality
Large display
Video playback
FM radio
MicroSD expansion slot
USB drag-n-drop
Good battery life
Twice as thick as the Nano
Not as good looking as the Nano

SanDisk is more popular in our side of the world for memory cards that most of the budget conscious buyers avoid in favor of cheaper (and often fake) brands, but in the other parts of the world, their Sansa series of MP3 players have been getting a lot of attention and are more widely appreciated than Creative’s Zens. That makes the Sansa players the second most popular in the world, coming in right after the iPod.

Mostly making low-capacity players such as 512MB and 1GB models, the new e200 series sport a color display and higher capacities such as 2GB, 4GB, 6GB and 8GB, namely e250, e260, e270 and e280.

The e200 series are direct competitors to the iPod Nano, but the first thing anyone will spot is that it’s almost twice as thick, even though its roughly the same height and width. Those with eyes on the Nano will need a serious amount of feature benefit from the Sansa if they are to be impressed.

The rear of the player needs a special mention because its made out of a special Titanium alloy by Liquidmetal Technologies that’s supposed to be scratch resistant, but the piece we received already had a pretty large scar on the back. Interestingly, all attempts at trying to create our own scars failed.

I am considering buying it from someone for 90$ and it has about 8 albums on it - most i like -a couple i am not a fan of... but my question is: How do I get better quality for the FM radio? it seems to barely pick any channels up and then when in those channels it switches up and gets fuzzy at times... where do I get this antenna someone mentioned and/or are there any alternative ways to get better reception?

IT DOES HAVE A CUSTOM EQUALIZER!!! I own it, and its one of the best electronic devices i've bought. If you dont mind the thickness, its one of the best mp3s for your money out there! I got it on sale at staples for $70, the normal price was $110. (I own the e250). Other than double the thickness its exacctly like ipod except with a micro sd slot and picture wheel menu, and the e250 is $70 bucks cheaper than an ipod nano with the same memory capacity (2 GB). Its AWESOME!!!!!

To convert files:
Install the "Sansa Media Converter" that came in the box with the player. Plug in your player to the USB port. Open the media concerter. Click the "add media" button. An explorer window will show up. Select the folder in which the file you're trying to convert is. Double click the file you're trying to convert. Keep adding all the files you're trying to convert. Once you have all the files you want in the window ready to be converted, click the "Convert" button in the lower right hand corner. Wait until it finishes converting and transfering the files. You're now done.
If you dont have the cd, you may be able to find the converter on the sandisk/sansa website.

Custom Equalizer is very well present there! And it can be customized like any other Equalizer. You can also apply the firmware upgrades yourself!

Guys you must have this player! I already have Sansa e260 4 GB player. It has very good features like FM, recorder, Video which Nano doesn;t have. And above all it has MicroSD memory slot through which you can upgrade it further. 4 GB MicroSD cards are already available!! Great Sound Quality! FM doen't require any antenna most of the times! much more with low price as compared to iPod.

Hey guys ...I am planning to buy a Sandisk MP3 player.
Could you suggest me which of those are worth buying....where can i buy them in India....is it cheper in india
S.P @ Feb 12, 2007
I have recently bought it. Happy with its overall performance, looks, ease of ops, etc. except that it should come up with extra charging-cum-speaker dock that can be connected to normal electrical sockets/plugs so that one can take this product along holidays where there is no access to computers. Can anyone tell me any such accessory available locally & at what price?
C.G. Naik @ Jan 24, 2007
My bro got me Sansa e250 (2 GB) from US, & he got just in 100$ .
This is awesome as compared to iPod Nano...!
as it has got Video Playback, FM Broadcast as well as FM Broadcast Recorder, also Voice Recorder...which are not in Nano!

Best is to get it from US, coz it is cheaper there as compared in India!
Dipul @ Jan 18, 2007
just bought one from the USA ..its simply amazing and cost me only 175$ for the 8GB version.
we finally have something that is almost in the same league as nano but much cheaper
