Philips GoGear SA1355

Lightweight
User friendly interface
Quick/easy transfer of files
Bad sound output from earphones provided

So Philips has launched a new range of media players called the GoGear series. I find it rather ironic that a player this small has a name this long - the SA1355 (kidding). But let's see how it fares with regards to features and performance.

Form Factor
It's slim, and extremely lightweight. The reflective surface on the front gives the player an expensive and classy look. There's also the silver navigation pad for the volume, play/pause, and the forward, rewind and skip keys which adds to the look. The play/pause button is also used as the power switch. By keeping it pressed for about 3-4 seconds the player will shut down or start up. The SA1355 like most other players is also a polite player that is courteous enough to say 'Bye' when shutting down. What? No 'hello' when starting up?

On the top of the player you'll find the menu key along with the A-B loop key and the record button.

One side has the 3.5mm earphone socket and the microphone. And you can also see the Hold switch at the side.

There's the USB connector that slides out from the side opposite the mic. with the help of a slider switch located at the back of the player. Very 007 style. So there's no need for any wires though you do get a small extension cable for the USB just in case.

The interface, I have to say is quite boring and plain. The blue and yellow characters ultimately make the player look a little cheap. So that pretty much spoils the overall look.

I just bought this for 2390r.1.Its v.good though not excellent audio quality. My observations-1.Plastic is cheap and not
scratch proof body,it shd hv been ABS with matt finish.Simple finger nail makes scratch on red body.2.H.phones dont come with foam make it uncomfy at times .3.H.Phone wires are flimsy why these guys cant make it better I dont understand. It shd be made with flat strand laid wires instead of round and shd be laminated
with plastic this avoids breakages while riding on motorcycles with helmets. A small self winding coil with flat wired phones would also be appreciated for auto adjustment like a extention chord.
3.Switch for play ,forwardetc should have different hight levels for convenient pressing.4.Switches shld be located near head ph scket here its at opp side

I bought one and u're right about the headphones. But i had a little trick up my sleve.... i already bought another pair one month earlier also philips headphones but with great sound quality. And i have no problem with the radio. It depends on where u live in the city. I live in the suburbs so there's not a lot of interference. Oh! btw! Why doesn't it have a clock? everywhere i searched it said it had one.... even in it's manual. too bad I didn't found u guys eralier... oh and btw my pair of headphones costs around Rs. 200. you just need to know where to look.

Creative HQ-65 backphone will cost around Rs. 400 and have a gr8 specifications with 117dB sensitivity. I've used this with my Sony Ericsson W810i and this GoGear....both of them sounds well enuf to hang out with it, though this neckphones are a bit bulky to carry/
