The racing genre had some really big hits like GRID, Pure and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift last year. Can 2009 match up to offer a similar lineup? Let's find out — here are the racers you can expect in 2009:
Platform: PS3
Release Date: December 2009
The Prologue version of Gran Turismo 5 hit the market last year, causing a stir amongst racing simulation fans the world over. The game sold more than 2 million copies worldwide (out of which 1 million were just pre-orders), which goes to show how strong a fan base the series has. If only a chunk of GT5 (that's what Prologue was) can enjoy that kind of success, one can only imagine what kind of numbers the full game will crunch. To ensure that it grabs the attention of every racing addict out there the game offers everything a simulation fan could want; in fact GT5 will even feature cars by Ferrari (for the first time in the series) along with an incredibly impressive roster of over 900 cars! Those of you who want a taste of the action and can't wait, should give GT5 Prologue a shot, and maybe look at the Logitech Driving Force GT as a weapon of choice.
Platform: Xbox360
Release Date: 31 January 2009
From the garage of the PC simulation racer veterans SimBin (known for the GTR series), comes the ultra-realistic racer for the Xbox360 - RacePro. RacePro boasts realism in everything ranging from car design - which is true to every last detail from real world cars - to track design, which again is identical to some of the most famous tracks the world over. RacePro offers a myriad of customization tools to tweak the performance of your ride to your liking, which includes the ability to alter brake performance, suspension settings, aerodynamics, tire behavior and anything that'll let you get that extra edge once the green flag drops. While the car selection won't be too extensive (just 44 cars here), you get everything from Vipers and BMWs to obscure rides to pick from, and a ton of visual customization options to help you make your ride stand out.
