Xbox360 Exclusives to Look Forward to This Year
By: Avinash Bali   |   Jun 29, 2009

Even though the Xbox 360 boasted of a good amount of exclusives in the years gone by, the rest of 2009 isn’t looking too hot for MS. As opposed to what Sony’s bringing to the table, Xbox 360 exclusives aren’t all that umm... exciting and the worst part for MS is that tons of exclusives like Mass Effect 2, Dead Rising and Lost Planet have now gone multiplatform. Either way, let’s take a look at what 2009 has in store for 360 owners:

Halo 3: ODST

Halo 3: ODST will be a stand-alone expansion for Halo 3 in which you step into the boots of an unknown Orbital Drop Ship Trooper (ODST) before the events of Halo 3. Unlike the iconic Master Chief, you’re a run-of-the-mill grunt so don’t expect to just run into the heat of the battle and regenerate health; you’ll have to survey the situation, move carefully and even use stealth to your advantage as and when possible.

Shadow Complex

Announced at E3 2009 by the makers of the Gears of War series in conjunction with Chair Entertainment, Shadow Complex is an all out, balls-to-the-wall side scrolling shooter for Xbox Live Arcade. I normally don’t mention XBLA games in such lists but this one grabbed me by my throat with its fast paced action, gorgeous visuals and a 3D open-world game design.

GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony

Since the first episode of downloadable content for GTA IV impressed the crap out of us we sure have high hopes for the second one in which you’ll step into the boots of “Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka Gay Tony)”. Betrayal, loyalty, guns, glamor and copious amounts of Liberty City night life is what’s been promised to us so far.

Forza Motorsport 3

A wet dream for gearheads, Forza Motorsport 3 is all about realistic racing in pretty cars. Besides that expect visuals running at 60 frames per second, over 400 vehicles to choose from, user-generated content and the ability to upload your very own fully customized high-definition videos on Xbox Live.

Fanboys need to settle down, it's just a list. They may have included batman in the ps3 list because of exclusive content but they included GTA:TBOGT and Halo 3: ODST in the xbox list, and they're not full games either.

All the other games not mentioned are coming to PC, which means they're not exclusive. Exclusive means ONE platform. The ps3 list didn't have any games coming to PC.
zack @ Jul 05, 2009
note the title "Xbox360 Exclusives to Look Forward to This Year" u peops need to learn how to read no offence. And i agree they should change both the articles from what to we are looking for this year to what are we looking forward 2
bob @ Jul 05, 2009
is this it? are you serious? ............... lmao. wait .... LMAOOOOO!!!
tatsujin @ Jul 05, 2009
These guys know nothing.Look at their PS3 list, they include Batman DA, apologise saying it's not an exclusive. But don't include L4D2, splinter cell or alan wake on their 360 list. Obviously SONY fanboy site...
jason @ Jul 05, 2009
I want to see a list of all (good) games comming out this year for xbox, not just some exclusives. I also want to see it on a website that isn't full of sh1t
Frank toy @ Jul 05, 2009
everyone stop posting how one consoles line up is better. PS3 is going to get a lot this year, but 360 shouldn't be kept out of the spotlight, don't forget about the Metal Gear Solid series hitting the box soon, plus we'll be able to get games that aren't exactly exclusives, Borderlands and others listed above. Its going to be a great year for gamers in general but with such a wide open market now when it comes to gaming, what used to be a completely nerdy thing, not an acceptable part of pop culture, fanboys will keep coming and growing, so everyone just be happy for what we've got. Oh and don't forget about next year, Elder Scrolls 5 and Doom 4 are confirmed so keep an eye open for info.
DevilXPanther @ Jul 05, 2009
xbox 360 has even more coming soon but so does other platforms
adam @ Jul 04, 2009
Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell, Left 4 Dead 2 are not exclusives, they are all coming to PC. Not all of those games have been announced for a 2009 release either. Somehow I think you few chose to forget this so you could fan the flames of a fanboy war that doesn't exist.

A real gamer enjoys the games released regardless of system, not just limiting himself to one.
Kris @ Jul 04, 2009
So Mass Effect, Splinter Cell, Magna Carta 2, Left 4 Dead2 can't be mentioned for XBox 360 like IGN, Gamespot and every other respectable website does??

hahaha This website is such a joke... with those games included XBox 360 EASILY has the better 2009 line-up with Mass Effect 2, Halo: Reach, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Gears of War 3 and more coming to annihilate the Flopstation 3rd in 2010. lmao

tech2.in.com is probably the most embarassing gaming website on planet earth at this time. Do they even know if a game is good or worthy of mentioning? Do they try? Do they even own a console? I'm not going to say you FORGOT anything, but based on your article title, you DID. If you would have said "we" (as in your website) were looking forward to these exclusives MORE than the others, it would make more sense. That would only make you a poor gaming journalist and poor gamer in general. Instead, you just listed some of the exlusives, many of which are intruiging but definentily NOT in the top 5. I know that all gamer's have their opinion and I respect yours. Just let me know when you give it. All I see here is bad judgement.
sAnZee @ Jul 04, 2009
Ok I get it. I don't think pc games should make a game non-exclusive though because these topics are more xbox vs ps3 in my eyes. But whatever. PS can't wait for ODST :-)
Frank toy @ Jul 04, 2009
L4D2 is not a 360 exclusive its on PC to.
name @ Jul 04, 2009
splinter cell conviction isent a 360 exclusive its on PC also.
mass efect 2 same thing and thats not comming till 2010.
SC
originality?
you've gotta be kidding me.
you do realize the 1 thing M$ are famous for (windows) was a copy of Linux.
if any company should be bagged for copying its M$ they do it the most.
and now there copying apple to by making there own version of the Iphone.
or copying wii and bringing in there motion controller, well thats more of a PlayStation eye rip off with voice recognition
name @ Jul 04, 2009
to the writer of article
you need to look
a little bit into the what
games are coming out
i dont care if a ps fanboy
give the credit where it is due
you forgot one major game
for the 360
which is splinter cell
loved the series but too
bad its console exclusive
bdog8121 @ Jul 04, 2009
edit from last post:

you're also missing left 4 dead 2
doa766 @ Jul 04, 2009
you're missing:

section 8
raven squad
splinter cell convinction
infernal hell's revenge

this list is incredibly incomplete but as least is not as delirious as the PS3 list

please do your research before writting an article about gaming, gamers are usually very well informed and you can't foll them with a half assed lists like these

do better or do nothing
doa766 @ Jul 04, 2009
Also mass effect 2 isn't multi-plat. Also the ps3 list had agent that isn't comming out untill next year. Pay no attention to these lists, they are F up'd
Frank toy @ Jul 04, 2009
HAHA LOL, i'm not a fanboy either, but as you see, PS3 has no big shooters like the 360, yeah it might have killzone 2, but hell, Left 4 Dead, GOW and Halo beats it combined. AND SONY COPIED Microsoft with PSN, come on originality.
SC @ Jul 04, 2009
Umm... What happened to splinter cell and L4D2???
Frank toy @ Jul 04, 2009
2 games and 2 dlc. great year for the 360 huh :/
support iran @ Jul 04, 2009
are u retarted not only does the PS3 have more games coming but not once has anyone on the PSN ever bought or payed for a demo. stupid fanboy prick
Dustin @ Jul 04, 2009
PS3 Who....????
Oh yah didn't they make GT5 and GOW III,,, oh wait they just show trailers about these games and make you pay for demos......
Trekster_Gamer @ Jul 04, 2009
Where is Splinter Cell Conviction? I thought @ E3 that they said it would be out during the holiday season of 09?
godzilla73 @ Jul 04, 2009
notice how ps3 page is 2 pages long with double the exclusives of the 360 lol hell yaa sony rockk out 2009 babyyy
rob @ Jul 04, 2009
When looking at what the PS3 has already brought (4 PS3 exclusives ranked 80+ this year vs 1 360 exclusive ranked 80 or higher), and then looking at what the PS3 has yet to bring, Sony has this year in the bag. It's funny how 360 fans ignore the fact that the PS3 has already released games like Infamous and Killzone 2, and they just look at what the PS3 will release this fall.
Spriggers @ Jul 04, 2009
Eer, 4 games...Wow...
Harry @ Jul 04, 2009
@Trey4Lyf its not right if you are comparing the eyetoy and project natal. Project natal clearly seems next gen. and after the unveiling of the video featuring MILO and his superb a.i., need i say more?
gamingskater @ Jun 30, 2009
btw project natal=fatal, microsoft did what sony did way back in 2005 with the eyetoy, they just added lots of hype.
Trey4Lyf @ Jun 30, 2009
forza 3 is gonna be awesome!!!!
nimish @ Jun 29, 2009
Even though microsoft lost by a not very large margin on the exclusives at this years E3, it clearly won overall ( I am no fanboy and i hate fanboys. I appreciate a console which has advantage over the other). I mean Project Natal was very impressive. Looking forward to that.
gamingskater @ Jun 29, 2009
Umm that's my bad. Changes have been made. Thanks for pointing that out.
Avinash Bali @ Jun 29, 2009
this list is tiny compared to the ps3 list..
nitesh @ Jun 29, 2009
Ha ha Orbital Drop "Shit" Trooper ?
