Ubisoft Montreal (the same team that worked on the Prince of Persia series) has announced a brand new next generation title called The Assassins Creed. The game, that will be a part of a franchise (a trilogy most likely) will put players in the shoes of an Assassin named Altair during the Crusades as he tries to suppress both sides of the conflict. Gameplay mechanics will involve a combination of the platforming aspects of Prince of Persia with stealth elements taken from Splinter Cell. Here's more official BS from the press release:
“Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history.”Head on over to their website for a teaser trailer.
